'dimple' tweeter fix
Please post pics if you decide to go with the direct-lips-on-tweeter procedure. Of the process, not the result. I promise not to post them on youtube.
Idol fans weigh in
I'm a big fan of the show but I don't watch to decide what my next CD purchase will be. I think it is great TV entertainment. I grew up watching music and variety shows with my parents. Bobby Goldsboro (except for that stupid frog), Glen Campbell,...
Varying ways in which artists approach their music
I'm impressed by Jack White. From the White Stripes to his project with Loretta Lynn to his new blues album and everything in between is a broad range of styles and he really seems to immerse himself in each genre he tries. He doesn't come across ...
Fuses that matter.
I just bought a HiFi Tuning Supreme fuse for my integrated amp. Why? Because I haven't bought anything for my system lately and I'm currently very happy with all the big expensive parts and I had the itch to buy something. For a mere $89.00 it cur...
Fuses that matter.
Kijanki, I know what you mean. If I take all the gas out of my motorcycle it handles much better due to reduced weight but it doesn't accelerate very quickly. Also makes the $1000.00 Staintune exhaust seem like a waste of money.
Best vintage Sansui integrated
My roommate had the AU-717 when it was a current model and I still think it was an incredible sounding amp. It was 85WPC. Not quite enough for the low impedance load of Double Advents in parallel though as sometimes it would shut down during exten...
Recommend some Blues music to a newbie
Ether, for a different take on the blues try Otis Taylor. He calls his music trance blues and his main instrument is the banjo. I too like Eric Bibb-I only have one of his CD's called "Troubador Live" which has Staffan Astner as a guest guitarist....
AR repair in SF bay area
You could try a pro sound rental company that rents out PA stuff for parties and DJs. I live in Santa Cruz and our local pro company Santa Cruz Sound actually had the proper rubber surrounds in stock to repair the woofers on my old Advent Loudspea...
How goofy is this?
Compared to some of the crazy stuff we do in this hobby I'd say you're barely a "1" on the audiophile goofy scale of 1-10.
Integrated or Amp/Preamp combo for Magnepan 1.7
I had the same experience with the W4S STI-500. Did lots of things well but had glare or hardness in upper mids with my Usher Be-718's. I switched to NAD M3 which cured it but also lost some detail and space around instruments. The M3 did sound ve...
integrated amp suggestions solid state
Depends on your budget. I used an NAD M3 with my Adagios and it sounded very good although was not strong on air and detail. The detail was there, but not forward. Very good bass, soundstage, not fatiguing at all. Very powerful, meaty, and substan...
Pass Labs INT-150 with Power Plant Premier
Seems like you should ask Pass Labs. Whenever I've talked to manufacturers they have been very friendly and helpful.
Alt Country/Folk, American roots
If you like the above music you might like John Mellencamp's "No Better Than This". Great writing and performance plus several different recording venues, each with their own story.
What's Wrong With ROMEX??
Onhwy61,"Some things are just cool to do regardless of whether they make any real sense or not."I couldn't agree more, and I'm not afraid to say so. Like meticulously cleaning my motorcycle even using a toothbrush for the tight corners, and then g...
banana plugs or not?
If you decide to go with bananas, the AudioQuest BFA bananas are easy to install on your wire with a dual set screw connection particularly if you have thick wire like my Kimber 8TC. They are much nicer than the Monsters-I have had both. My local ...
