Best vintage DD turntables from the 70's and 80's?
When I worked for RSL in the 1970s we were a Luxman dealer.  As I recall, the Luxman repair tech that would come by the stores occasionally told me that the PD-441 and PD-444 motors were designed for Luxman and manufactured by Teac.
Best amp for Raidho Speakers
You are correct, my bad.  Sorry!
Best amp for Raidho Speakers
Now that Raidho is owned by GamuT I would guess that any new speakers will be voiced with their own amps.  I would try demoing with the GamuT Di150 integrated or D200i stereo amps.  IMO the Di150LE is the best SS amp I ever heard.
Klipsch Heresy III vs Forte III
The Forte is a completely different speaker than the Heresy.  IMO it sound much more detailed and has a much larger soundstage and presence than the HIII yet is just as musical; maybe more so.  But it's also significantly larger cabinet. As good as...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
mrdecibel said:" Just to be clear, the Fortes are not part of the Heritage line."I'm looking at a Klipsch brochure from 1991 titled Klipsch Heritage Speakers and it lists the following models: Khorn, La Scala, Belle, Chorus II, Forte II, Quartet ...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
I love the Klipsch Heritage line.  Not a polite, refined sound but big and brassy.  Great for jazz and hot vaocals. The Forte II/III is a great speaker, but IMO the Chorus just sounds better.  A little larger and weighs a LOT more than the Forte, t...
LTA micro zotl preamp
kw6, I think that we are getting mixed up with naming. Admittedly, LTA does not make it easy.  I assume that you just purchased the new micro ZOTL preamp.  I owned the older MZ2 unit, which was an integrated amp but many guys used it as a preamp. ...
LTA micro zotl preamp
kw6, How would you compare the sound of the microzotl to the MZ2?I ask because I purchased an MZ2 last year, for my den.  And while the unit is very quiet it does not compare, soundwise, to my Radu Tarta/Shiny Eyes 41PL DHT preamp.  Admittedly, I'...
Small or large sub for music
sleepwalker65 wrote: Subwoofers are a bad solution for inadequate speakers. They are mutually exclusive with high fidelity because they can never perfectly integrate. Some people and rappers don’t care about sound quality. Low-Fi is fine for them...
Speaker driver sizes - pros and cons
timlub, with all due respect I do not agree for several reasons:1- Mass is always an issue.  Larger motors do help, but the reaction time also increases; larger motor or not.2- Mass vs motor: over-driving the cone is typically only a concern with ...
Speaker driver sizes - pros and cons
timlub, you forgot to mention that smaller drivers are usually faster than larger drivers - less mass to push and pull back and forth. Also, I disagree that small speakers can't reproduce a large orchestral experience.  You just need more than one;...
Sean Casper 421a or Don Garber 421A amp?
A Sean Casper 421A amp just sold on USAA.  It seemed to go for a very fair price.  I thought about bidding on it myself but got distracted. Are you lucky enough to think you'll find a Don Garber amp for sale these days?  Well do you, punk? (sorry, ...
DECWARE.....ZTPRE anyone have any expeiriance with one ?
I have heard the new ZTPre "V6" design, paired with decware 6Wpc monoblocks and decware speakers, and I can definitively say that it is not rolled off on the bottom end.  It's an excellent and unique dual mono preamp design.  If you need a tube pr...
What are best hi efficiency speakers under $1000?
I guess a late reply is better than none.
Potential issues using low powered tube amp with electrostatic speakers
Hmmm, it might work but I wouldn't bet that you will be happy.  The Ethos speakers use a powered sub section and are rated at 92dB.  But my guess is that you are not going to get optimal performance from this amp/speaker combination.  You haven't ...
