What time do you wear? I own a few watches, but the main one worth mentioning is my Baume & Mercier....Love it! It's an automatic, self-winding unit. An automatic watch is to Analog LP like a Quartz watch is to Digital Compact Disc! Interesting Analogy I think!
Neutral Sounding Silver Cables? Thanks everyone for your advice. I wish I were able to take advantage of the Cable Company's trial programs; unfortunately, I'm in Canada, and they don't offer it to anyone out of country. I have to admit I'm reluctant to try any silver cables eve...
Cleaning and Maintenance of Connections..... Albertporter, I didn't even know they sold the Caig Pro Gold in a spray can! I'll have to order a can here from Parts Connection. Question, how often do you clean your connections...and what do you do for cleaning for your xlr cables?
Cleaning and Maintenance of Connections..... Learsfool, I find that any time I disturb the cables with my cleaning, the sound always becomes a bit brighter (perhaps abrasive was too strong a word) and less dimensional. Once the cables settle (typically a few days), the sound improves.
"Paper Airplane" I just saw AKUS station live here in Calgary a week ago, and it was a magical experience! I had always thought that she should go fully solo, but after watching their performance, I now understand why they've been together 21 years! The synergy of...
Harmonic Tech Pro AC-11 vs Acoustic Zen Tsunami I've heard both power cords, and between the two, would prefer the HT Pro AC11. I found the Tsunami to be far too warm. The Audience PowerChord is also an all-round good performer.

Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily on LP...any good? Thanks for your feedback guys....It looks like I may have to order the LP version of Tigerlily. Gary, when I meet you at one of your meetings, I'll certainly take you up on your offer!calgarian
Are Rotel amps and preamps any good? Rotel has exceptional customer service. I believe their amplifiers are built robustly and perform like workhorses with a robust and rather forward sound. Unfortunately, my experience with their preamps only tested how good their service and custom...
christmas music Love her or hate her, my favorite is Celine Dion's These Are Special Times. I think it's an incredible Christmas cd.Second place: Sarah Mclaughlin's WintersongThird place: Boney M Christmas of course!calgarian
Jennifer Warnes 20th Anniversary Fam Blue Raincoat Well...I finally got my copy of the 20th Anniversary edition, and it definitely sounds more dynamic top to bottom; micro-details are more apparent(similar to switching from copper to silver speaker cables)...and Jennifer's voice is more forward an...
Which Cable Makes the Biggest Impact? Thanks for everyone's comments. I was hoping that this thread would not turn into one of those battles about how the last six feet of a power cord to a component can possibly make a difference. I'm sure everyone is tired of those threads. Frankly,...
What could be wrong? Thanks for everyone's responses. I figured out what was wrong. It appears the connection from the cartridge to the tonearm cable was the culprit. When I originally attached the very thin tonearm leads to the pins on the cartridge, I just slipped t...
What could be wrong? Update...I changed the turntable connection to a different input on my linestage preamp and there was no change; the right channel was still much louder than the left. I then swapped the left/right channels from the tonearm cable to my phono pream...
Turntable lamp? I think you can get the big, bulky clamp-on LED BBQ lamp from Williams Sonoma as well. I myself, have the Littlite...and it's far more compact, but yes, it's not cheap.calgarian |
