Time to pull the trigger on BluRay?
I'm waiting to see the Oppo before I make a decision.Dave
Please help me find an amp
Given the efficiency of you speakers you might go with the Rowland Continuum 250 or the Rowland Capri pre-amp and the 201 monoblocks or the 102 stereo amp. You need to make your amp and pre-amp choice together. They don't have to be the same brand...
isolation???HELP
Well, if you can't move (why is it New Yorkers "can't" move? I never understand that, from someone that's changed cities and states 6-times), how bad is it when you're playing LPs? What do you have now?I assume that you're not willing to spend $1 ...
Jeff Rowland 501s and PC1s
Good question, but no Clavil, because the PS converts from AC to DC and back to AC. Rowland's PF1 only works with certain of his equipment because it converts from AC to DC and stays in the DC mode.Dave
Would Like To Hear From Strain Gauge Owners
Slowhand, I bought The Voice Ebony after hearing it at this year's RMAF. It's really a wonderful sounding cartridge. A local friend also bought one at this year's RMAF and he's a huge vinyl-phile re-discovering his large collection. Anyway, it sta...

Review: Soundsmith SG-410 Strain Gauge Cartridge Cartridge
Raul said:"Maybe you don't want to give us ( or to me ) a precise answer but IMHO it will be healthy to do it: there is nothing to hide about, or is it?, why to leave to the controversy your very well made SG design? don't you think that your toda...
New Bel Canto Gear at RMAF
Hifipete, before we crown a KING of Class D we need to reconsider Jeff Rowland Design Group's latest offerings. Having heard the Spectron in monoblock, I'd put it as a contender, but further listening is needed to crown a king. Also, Spectron prob...
wadia ipod dock-- anyone find faults?
Nice follow up Chrissain. That would explain a lot. Thank you very much for continuing to pursue what you heard and reporting to us.That may also explain why I don't hear a difference, my DAC does the upsampling, not the transport. The Playback De...

Rich, that should be a fine sounding analog front end. Please give us your report when you get it together.Dave
Review: Soundsmith SG-410 Strain Gauge Cartridge Cartridge
Raul, I don't think that we can place much reliance on a review that was so poorly translated. It seems to be very positive, yet there's a bunch of confusing stuff about the frequency response. Also, what is the frequency response after the phono p...
Review: Soundsmith SG-410 Strain Gauge Cartridge Cartridge
I think he's saying it's under 1dB Raul. Elsewhere in the article he says:"We can now state, with an excellent accuracy level, that the naturalfrequency response curve of the SOUNDSMITH cartridge is equal to the RIAA curve, this is somuch true tha...
Lossless files contain errors
For the record, I'm not using "Use Sound Check."Dave
Herbie Hancock, River: The Joni Letters
I've got the LP version and it doesn't sound overly compressed to me. I do hear spots of compression here and there, but not the kind of broad compression over the whole spectrum that's ruining many recordings theses days. Musically I enjoyed it v...
Lossless files contain errors
Not that I know of, but I'm hoping that there is a way to at least get a report of the rip's accuracy.Dave
