Puzzle: exceptional sound in custom amphitheater
And, one issue is that a high quality pro rig seems to run 20-50k, even used. So in the meantime, I'll likely have to get by with a more modest consumer method ---- is there a clear winner over upgraded la scala's for this kind of outdoor use?

Thanks for the responses guys!Walls are certainly important. (My favorite bromide is that the room is the real speaker, the loudspeakers are just drivers.) However, for many rooms, the walls are the problem, not the solution.I wish Paul's quote wa...
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
Steve --- sorry somehow I missed your response. Will your player work with Linux? Also, what's the return policy? (I searched around for awhile but seem to be missing it.)
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
There are some great DAC contenders in this Audiogon thread, so this might be a useful information. Thanks Alex. I'd posted this b/c that thread muddied the waters enough I wasn't sure what to get.Ideally I was looking for anyone that heard the ne...
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
ZD542: I found configuring linux for bit-perfect relatively straightfoward for older versions of linux, where the machine was dedicated to just serving music. There are many threads on doing so if you search for "bit-perfect audio linux". The main...
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
Re: no pre-amp. Steve N: How do you handle volume control? Do you throw away bits to lower volume or do you attenuate the analog signal? Has anyone done an A/B of your DAC against a good pre at low listening levels?I initially bought the w4s to us...

JL Gotham, Seaton HP, Funk Audio 18.2 or ?
Ah, sorry Toddnkaya --- tinnitus has made me tone deaf to nuance.I guess I'll go with the gothams. I don't have any way to listen to the others and it's hard to figure out how reputable the various posters that rave about seaton/funk audio are.
JL Gotham, Seaton HP, Funk Audio 18.2 or ?
Do you realize what the site "audiogon.com" is about? And why would you assume I am paying anywhere near MSRP?
JL Gotham, Seaton HP, Funk Audio 18.2 or ?
How about a less ambitious question: has anyone heard the funk audio 18.2?
What speakers work best with electronic music?
I just got a pair of dunlavy sc-v's. We listen to a lot of electronic, precise music and the dunlavy's have proven to be crazy detailed. Big, though, at 350lbs.Perhaps not the best test, but my girl will sit listening to them on her own accord, wh...
