Replacing my Krell FPB 600 amp with a tube amp
The technical guys, Almarg, Eric and a few others are invaluable to this site. If you love these speakers as you say, the advice from these contributors can be helpful in keeping you from making a bad choice.Had no idea the CAT amp had such a low ...
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO!
If one is too stupid or obtuse to trust their ears they deserve what they get for their dollars, hard earned or not. I've tweaked modestly to considerable good effect. My wife, who only comes down to the cave occasionally, usually gives me a succi...
Piggyback Balanced Power
Hooked up the unit a couple of days ago. Sorry for the delay but this 315 pound unit was a bear and finding a good electrician was paramount.First of all, my electrician gave me some info about it and these units add protection and safety for my s...
Piggyback Balanced Power
Maybe it's me. No, actually I already have the dedicated lines running to six outlets. My BPT 3.5 is plugged into one of these and runs my front end. Amps are across the room and they and the bass amplifiers in the powered speakers are plugged int...
Piggyback Balanced Power
The six dedicated lines are in the wall from a sub panel so moving them over should be fairly easy. This time though, a good electrician who has some understanding of audio would be helpful. I’ve put out some feelers and will be reporting back. Thi...

Thanks, will report back for sure.
Missing the Old Days
Buying a speaker that won't go whole hog is like buying a Dodge Charger with a six cylinder engine. I'm with you there. Listen to the pbns before you go directly to Tektons. Not saying they are better, just deserve a listen.

Cary 805 AE-do they go low?
Extremely detailed and solid info George. Really good to have knowledgable I must say, experts, on this forum. Since it's few and far between that an opportunity exists to actually hear components, much less in the environment in which we listen, ...
Cary 805 AE-do they go low?
BTW, much appreciated info here. The Zus have a class D Hypex amp driving a 12" subwoofer, signal taken off the mains. So the signal and it's effectiveness at juicing the Hypex should depend on the linearity of the Carys and not so much on the the...
Cary 805 AE-do they go low?
I currently run McIntosh MC 60s, and softness in the bass, given the potential of the down firing subs in the Definitions is like leaving part of the main course on the table. These speakers don't need the power of the amps to produce the bass, bu...
Cary 805 AE-do they go low?
Thanks George. So in a few words you're saying they would leave something to be desired.Probably going another route then. Thanks
Is it possible to have a quiet vinyl records
As above, some of the same some differences. Ultrasonic cleaner.Good phono stage. BAT VK P10SeLOMC cart.Unless there is noise on the surface that can't be removed by cleaning, then there is no noise through the system.
mono block or bi-amps which would you pick?
Zipost, I've been tossing around the idea of the Zandens for a while now. Curious to hear how your system comes out, particularly the bass. The Zandens have the rep of being very smooth.
Is powerfull Amps only for low sensitivity speakes?
It's just a hunch but I would be surprised if 60W RMS pumped into 100db sensitivity sepakers doesn't at some point on bass heavy material run toward clipping. This is pretty much what I run and given my fondness of dynamic range and dislike of amp...
