Audiophile quality streamer/server-in-one without a DAC. Does this exist?
This is what Aurender specializes in.  They have multiple price points. Check Music Direct.
B&W Speaker Score!
@dastro My first reaction was that that was a heck of a good price for Nautilus 802s.  That said, I wonder if the reason the price was so good is that they didn't sound right to the original owner either.  I'm with the other posters who say check ...
Small room electrostat/ planar speaker?
Have you considered the Maggie .7s, possibly with their bass panel?http://www.magnepan.com/model_MG_7
This is pretty funny and probably true for most of us
Even my wife laughed at this ... and she knows how much my stuff costs. :)
Replacing some old Bryston 4b/1b combo
Glenn, I was thinking the same thing as Erik.  A Parasound Halo just popped up https://www.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-parasound-halo-integrated-amplifier-2017-03-17-integrateds-75204-dallas-tx in his price range.  It has plenty of power and...
Jumpers for Integrated Amps: What are you guys using?
I think you were the only one that was scared. You do seem to be shaken up over all this Not really.  Just trying to convey accurate information.  The OP asked a question about what difference active or passive made and I answered his question. ...
Jumpers for Integrated Amps: What are you guys using?
If its nothing then why would they go out of their way to make it, advertise it and offer an active card as a back up?@sfall I haven’t done any research on this particular item but I believe the card you are referring to would be used to add gain...
Jumpers for Integrated Amps: What are you guys using?
I don't understand. What does the preamp side being passive have to do with anything? The answer is nothing.  If you had a separate passive "preamp" it would still have to be connected to the amp.  No one here would make that connection with two...
Should an AC line conditioner be placed before or after the power cord to the amp?
I was thinking that the Furman would clean up the incoming power and that the PowerChord would preserve that "cleaner power" going to the ampUnwired, There's also the theory that a power conditioner can't clean up what it doesn't see in the firs...
What to add or change for my system?
smills59, I agree with many others here that the room has the greatest and most underappreciated effect on the sound you get from your system.  That said, many of us don't have a dedicated room so room decor (otherwise known as WAF!) plays a part ...
What to add or change for my system?
@smills59 You've only been listening to the current system for 2 - 2 1/2 months.  Put the money in the bank (for now) and give yourself some time to get used to the change.  If something is wrong, it will eventually rise to the surface.  Bring tha...
VMPS RMX Bass Drivers
Check with Madisound (https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/ under the Madisound Services tab) to see if they might be repairable.  Of course you also need to know WHY the drivers blew so it doesn't happen again.
What Will Happen to Your Music Collection and Equipment When You.......
@tooblue If you're taking it with you, you probably need to get a good voltage converter and multiple plug types!  If they have Wayne Newton on constant repeat then you'll probably want something that converts heat to electricity as well. :)
All my FLAC files are 44.1/16
Ether, As Erik said, 44.1/16 is standard for CDs.  When encoding in Flac, a compression setting of 8 just means that the encoder tries "harder" to compress the file.  In my experience the higher compression level gets you very little in terms of f...
Audiogon's entitlements
I haven’t spent a lot of time diagnosing it but it seems to me that you can’t use the @ with OP’s ID until they have also posted a response. The other responders are available in the list. Like I said I haven’t spent a lot of thought on it but, ri...
