In need high-efficency speakers
Considering that i have owned hereseys and cornwalls, i am personally much happier with 3 different pairs of coincidents.  The horn tweeters get old....Also, coincidendts have much better WAF and i get better imaging due partially to the smaller f...

Coincident speaker technology in Canada.  Wayyyyy better than anything with a horn.
$1000-1500 range for phono preamp... what to buy?
In that range I only have 2 brands on my list:  Manley and AR
Household Surge Protectors - Good or Bad?
FYI-I have had a whole house surge for 15 years.  It only trips on very large spikes such as a transformer blowing at the pole.  Smaller spikes always get through.  Also, even with big spikes it is not nearly as sensitive as even the lower priced ...
Older Receiver as power amp using tape out jacks to separate pre-amp?
You will still have to adjust the volume on the receiver.  You could try setting the volume at maybe 50% and then tweak it with the preamp volume.  Not the best solution.
Best vintage amps (late 70s / early 80s) under $3k?
Sumo, Threshold, Robertson Twenty 20, Yamaha M series
Marantz AV7703 Processor dead
I fried a PS Audio Dectet at one point from lightning-that saved my Anthem.  You can call homeowners insurance?

Those aren't "peepholes"-they are "POOPHOLES"
What Center Channel are you using in your Home Theater?
The problem with a phantom center is that it usually only sounds good to the person sitting in the sweet spot.
Add On For Streaming
I use an Audioengine at home.  It is amazing for the money.  No password, just bluetooth searchable.  You hook into any input on the stereo.  All they have to do is pick that source.  Never goes down, never fails me and has a range up to 100 feet.
Using an LG V30 smartphone as a source component
They make OTG Cables (on the go) that work even better than headphone jacks.  It plugs into the phone's mini USB and the other end goes into a USB on your DAC.  This $10 cable will get you great sound if you have a DAC.
In search of respectable/reasonable tube amps with 16 ohm taps
You shouldn't need to worry about 16 ohms.  Any amp with 8 ohm taps will be happy.  It's when your speaker impedance is much lower than your taps, usually...
tubes and current
If you like the warm tube sound and love those speakers, consider a Class A amp.  You might find an Aragon, Sumo or other for a reasonable price.  Pass Labs will do what you need but are not cheap.  Otherwise you need a big tube amp such as Cary v...
tubes and current
You may end up with significantly different sound by switching between amps and tubes.  If you love your current sound and just need more power, you have answered your own question as to buy a second amp.  However, that may not be enough power for...
Auditioning Magnepan MMGi's and 1.7i's (and possibly the 3.7i's) on Monday
Schubert is dead on.  I've owned MMGs (cheap) and 10.1's and have played with others.  The bigger the Maggie, the more power you  need, lots of power.  Also, if you think you don't have bass now just wait. This sounds like the beginning of a long ...
