Does it make sense to use 6k$ Nos tube with 5K$ tube amplifier?
Sockets can be upgraded. Do they make fancy Teflon backed sockets for 300B tube pins?

Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
I do not think folks come here for the arguments or the fights. I think those things in a small measure act as a spice to make the place interesting. Also it is a person thing. Some folks who make  noise' are the very same folks who post good stuf...

LOL... I tried my ’cheap alternative’ refrigerator magnetic erase sheet under my main preamp. ahh a little too close... So I added another 1/4" spacer from shelf to underside of preamp. better. Added some baggies of ’treated’ quartz bits on top of...
Sell your $$$ cables and conditioners... affordable LITHIUM is here!
When I owned a PS Audio PPP regenerator, the worst PITA was the fan.. 100% reason enough to sell the PP was the stinking fan annoyance. So to me, anything that might have a fan coming on at almost random intervals is a 100% no $*%# way to own.
Help with a suggestion for using audio equipment in extremely humid climate conditions
I would think that sealed cases on your equipment would be far less prown to damage than open or cases with ventilation holes. Thus ues a cals D amp with a sealed case would be much safer and protected from the salt air breeze, than say a tube amp...

Differences between cd transports?
The one thing folks always leave out when discussing transports is: How clean the surface of ANY CD they stick in there to be read. Folks who are not cleaning off the surface every time are constantly adding damage to the laser lens. Every time th...
Soliciting Member Perspectives: Levinson vs Bryston vs Audio Research
Tube life of ARC REF6:   6550WE 2000 hours     6H30 4000 hours    I listen for about 10 hour a day, every day..  365 x 10 3650 in one year. 4000 in 13 months.  So in about seven months replacing the 6550WE .. 13 months, every 13 months...
Soliciting Member Perspectives: Levinson vs Bryston vs Audio Research
The largest problem with current ARC preamps is tube life. I am retired, and listen over ten hours a day. that would mean yearly replacement of tubes in a REF 6 Let alone how fast tube amplifiers would need tubes replaced. I do own a very nice ARC...
Looking for more transparency.
The one area cheap wire can sometimes beat the high priced stuff is speaker cables.               Not always, but often enough. Good Luck!
The Science of Cables
Sadly true. I do not have the funds to throw out all the aftermarket cables and buy them back... twice a week. How ever I could just swap them back and forth every day..       Whew! I am tired already just THINKING of all that swapping, Time for a...
