Tube rolling suggestions
I have had a Rogue Amp for a few years, and have done extensive tube rolling. I like the Mullards for the input tubes and I love the winged "C" Svetlana KT88's for the output stage.
Can I use the BFA style plugs on Vandersteens?
Older style Vandersteen 1B and 2C, 2CE series used strictly banana plugs. I don't know about the 3 series.
Vandersteen 2CE Signature dimensions
I have the sigs and the base extends 5 inches beyond the back of the speaker (which is 10 inches deep).
Powercord recommendations on CAL 15 & Rogue 66/99
I use PS Audio Statements on my 66/99. If you want to go cheaper, try the PS Audio plus cable.
tube suggestions for cj MV50?
Violaguy; I have had a MV-50 for a number of years. I also had reliability problems with Svetlana. I bought some used Mullard EL34's abaout 1 1/2 years ago and never looked back. They have way more bass than the Svetlana in my system. You can pay...
Best tubes for Conrad-Johnson MV-50 or MV-52?
I use Mullard EL34's for my CJ MV50. I bought them used on Ebay. I like them better than the Svetlana with Vandersteen 2CE Sigs. As far as 5751,I like the old RCA.
Blowing Fuses in a Tube Amp
I have a CJ MV-50. It was blowing fuses, I think it was the Svetlana EL34's. I replaced them with old Mullards that BARELY tested good and have not had a problem. So I think maybe you should try different tubes. The Mullards also sound better.
Best CD AND SACD Player under 1000
I've had the Sony 9000es. It sounded fake to me. I also had the Rega Planet 2000. With good interconnects it sounded good. Good bass, too. Now I have the Ah! Tjoeb and the tube sound is wonderful. A friend just purchased the new Jolida 100 tube pl...
Planet 2000 Interconnect, please help
Ptm, I had the same problem but settled on the Kimber Silver Streaks. Give them a try. They worked for me, and they are not expensive.
12au7
I use Mullards. I think that is what you are looking for. They are like RCA, but more of it.david
Tubes for Herron's Preamp
I guess the obvious choices certainly are Mullard/Amperex/Telefunken. I have the Mullards in my Rogue 66 preamp and like their bassy warmth, if that is what you are into. Just a suggestion.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
I drive a 1995 Acura Integra GSR and my wife a 2002 VW GTI turbo. I would like to be driving any vintage Ferrari.
Need more bass response
I have a Rogue 66 with a Rogue 88 amp. I replaced all tubes with Mullards (preamp takes 2 12au7's). I can't believe the base. I may have to put back one of the nos Philips that Rogue puts in from the factory to get a little shimmer back in. What I...
is Blue Heaven OK with Magnepan and Rogue?
Plug in Mullards wherever you can.Kimber Hero has a full and detailed sound. You will have the full-bodied midrange you crave.
speaker phase
Route9, yes you need to switch both speakers (or amp)positive and negative leads. I also have CJ preamps and have been doing this. I wonder who makes source components that have inverted phase?
