Do you ever do this before you listen?
What the dealer should do before a demo is to pour you a nice drink, give a few minutes for the effect, and then play the music....

Agreed with @shadorne.  Harbeth comes to mind with their classic design that haven’t changed much but updated with kept up with new development in technology.... 
Cannot find perfect sound
@enliten - I agree with what you are saying.  After reading all 80+ responses, my conclusion is that the OP pretty much has made up his mind that he will never find a pair of “perfect” speakers, and seems to have a rebuttal for every suggestion!  ...

To answer your question about where - if you join audiokarma, for paid members, there's the Bartertown area of the site where a lot of restored vintage gear are offered up.  Many of those were restored by respected techs and are being changed hand...
