Soundproofing
Double sheet rock on resilient channel is the way to go.  Also, filling the space with the recommended insulation.  The installation of the sheetrock on the channel needs to be perfect.  Any stray screws into the structure will defeat the purpose ...
VIENNA ACOUSTICS- DIE MUSIC
I have the Liszt rather than the music.  I have a 70 cycle or so hump.  The main cabinet is toed in and the midrange / tweeter is toed in more to the listening position.  I started with the speakers wider apart as recommended by VA, but I have slo...
Duelund 12AWG speaker wire sheathing
With the Duelund you need to be carful not to abrade the fabric covering.  I just had a person on the other end hold with the wires together while I carefully wound some loose twists.  Someone said you could start in the middle and wind opposite d...
Duelund 12AWG speaker wire sheathing
I have used heat shrink at the ends and that's all I have needed. You can see my cables in virtual systems.  it's a loose twist on the Duelund since I didn't want any abrasion on the cloth wrap.
Duelund 12AWG speaker wire sheathing
I have a loosely twisted pair without any sheathing and am using the KLEI banana plugs.  They sound very good and several of our audio club members are also using the 12ga. wire.
Duelund RCA interconnects...opinions
I used the 16ga for my turntable RCA interconnect.  I added a copper braided shield using the KLEI absolute harmony plugs.  It was a tight fit but sounds very good.
Reasonable RCA Connectors?

Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat
A friend gave me mat on loan to try.  Used it on my CD player.  There was no difference when using it.  I generally like trying tweaks but this one really stumped me on the cost vs. the value.
Soundproofing
Another important consideration is to make sure any air gaps are sealed with acoustic caulk when framing for example.  HVAC noise can be reduced by inserting a "box" in the line that is lined with 703 insulation.  These techniques and more worked ...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
I usually purchase the sacd's if the price gap isn't too great.  They do sound better, not vastly better, but noticeable.
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
For newer classical listeners the "Living Stereo" sacd of the Brahms and Tchaikovsky violin concertos with Heifetz and the Chicago Symphony is hard to beat.  An old recording with the classic three neumann microphone technique.  It sounds wonderfu...
