PS Audio GCPH Phono Preamp
Thanks, Lwin. How about noise?
Testing a cartridge
Thanks, everyone. I will certainly try these things and get back with the results!

Manual for Micro Seiki DD30 Turntable
Thanks, Viridian. I finally found where my posts had gone to! I will try that.
Noise when playing vinyl
Guys, thank you again! Viridian, I placed felt pads under the heavy entertainment center that I have the TT on, and I also placed felt pads on the metal feet that my Totem speakers have. That has solved the problem! Which is a good thing, because ...
Noise when playing vinyl
Thank you all for your prompt replies! Here's what I've got so far:Zd542, the turntable does not have a built in preamp. When I connected it to a line level input, there was minimal sound with the volume turned up. Mattmiller, I don't know the mod...
Loud hum in one channel
Thanks, guys. You know, I was never enamored with that phono preamp that was installed, and I wonder why it took the Empire TT to bring out all the bad in it, when the Funk was playing not too badly. At any rate, I will shop for an external phono ...
Loud hum in one channel
Here's a follow-up: Disconnected TT and ground wire, and noise like jet engines coming out of both speakers, more so on the left, but only on the TT setting, not the CD. Re-connected the Empire, and very noisy on the left channel, not so much on t...
Loud hum in one channel

Loud hum in one channel
The hum switches when I swap interconnects from the table to the preamp, and the noise only happens when I am using the preamp setting for the turntable; in other words, it does not happen with the CD players. BTW, the noise is present even when t...

Help with set-up of Empire 598III Turntable
Thanks for your help, but I am still confused with the set-up of the Dyna-Lift PRIOR to balancing the tonearm with the cartridge; do I put the counterweight on or do I leave it off?
VPI HW-17
Thanks, everybdy! I have tossed the Discwasher and just ordered the MSFL brushes. Will get back to you!
Is analog supposed to be so noisy?
Thanks, guys, for all your responses. Indeed, the ground wire was broken; I spliced it and 95% of the noise is gone. Certainly not as quiet as digital, which is practically noise-free, but quite an improvement!
