Tonearms longer than 12 inches
Is this the Albert Porter I have heard about over the years with the Technics tables???  Or am I old enough to be hallucinating again!!!If so it is nice to meet you.HW
VPI Traveler skipping - no anti skate
If it plays for a few minutes it is not the bearings, remove the wire from its connection and see if it tracks the record.  If so the wire is either too twisted or not twisted enough.  Did you buy this from Music Direct??  If so they will back you...
VPI Cartridge People: What next?
I have to agree with one of the posters, get the 3D arm and the Art 9, you will be one happy vinyl listener.  Any table change would be a sideways move, it is the arm that matters, do it.  I have a few "B" stock 3D arms that will be presented on t...
Victor TT 101 vs TT 81
What is wrong with your TT-101?  Is it electrical or mechanical?  Remember, this is a low power system and any mechanical issue will result in that motor spending the whole day trying to correct itself.HW
Victor TT 101 vs TT 81
I am blown away by the amount of interest in these Victor motors.  When they were selling them everyone wanted the Technics, or the Kenwood, or the Micro three arm, etc.  One hearing and I knew these were special but stopped using it decades ago p...
Victor TT 101 vs TT 81
I always use a solid base because I like to be able to lock the tonearm to the chassis the motor is in, that's me and probably means nothing.  Besides, I new I was using my 12" 3D arm so it became a moot point to have arm changing capabilities, I ...
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
I agree Raul, the 10" Prime/Classic length arm is the one I recommend for almost everyone.  It is rigid (good bass) it is quiet (3D printing), it is easy to set up correctly, and does not cost an arm and a leg..  The Prime arm just got Product of ...
VPI Traveler and Lyra Delos
Out of stealth and into the light!!I love the uni-pivot, it is in my reference system with the JBL's and the Blades but I had to play with gimbaled and yoke bearing assemblies to be sure.  In reality the Yoke arm sounds better to me than the gimba...
Victor TT 101 vs TT 81
I used the Classic Direct base which is 5/8" aluminum, 1/8" steel, MDF, and a walnut outer finish.  Really works well and has the resonance structure of a sausage hitting a pillow.HW
Turntable Wars- Reviewers take sides
Halcro, I have the TT-101 in a custom made plinth the same size as the Classic Direct and made of the same materials which makes comparisons easy.Using two 12" arm bases and moving the 12" 3D arm wand with Atlas between them the comparison is very...

Thanks guys, nice to be here.  I fall asleep every night to the TV timer and a Seinfeld episode, watched Festivus yesterday!! (had to add Festivus to my dictionary otherwise it shows a red line under it!!)HP used to store audio gear in his garage ...
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
Very interesting post, I disagree with almost the entire thing but other than that very interesting. The tracking error problem that has been brought up over and over is a mathematical problem, not a listening problem if you know what you are doing...
Victor TT 101 vs TT 81
I have a TT-101 for roughly 30 years, just mounted it in a new custom base with a 12" VPI 3D printed arm and it sounds amazing.  Highly recommended and it does hold up if not abused. I have never had an issue with it.HW
VPI Traveler and Lyra Delos
If you want a great time put an Atlas on a Traveler and sit back and enjoy the sound, it is wonderful.  Yes, it will be better on the Prime but that does not say it will not be almost as wonderful on the Traveler.  The arm on the Traveler is excel...
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges
I have read a lot of what has been written here, the Tsar as mounted up on my massive gimbaled 3D arm on the Avenger Direct Drive is as good if not better than the Atlas and the Ortofon A95, which means it is as good as it gets with even more life...
