CD Got Absolutely Crushed By Vinyl
Man that has got to be some bad digital you have that it was so easily beaten by vinyl. I am a big vinyl fan but personally feel you need to spend a good 3-5 times more for a vinyl system to have it beat digital. Also, digital needs to be more ope...
Anyone have a Little Fwend tonearm lifter?
The LF has a rubber strip on the top of the lifter to hold the tone arm so it does not move when being lifted. The setup also makes it so the lifter seems to always trip at the same spot, at least I haven’t run into a situation where it doesn’t tr...
Relaxing Records for Better Sound - Using the AFI FLAT
Hi Norbert,Yes the Flat works with US 120v electricity. It comes with an AC to DC power supply similar to what you get when you buy a Laptop. The menu system is in English as well (you can choose English or German). Contact information is availabl...
Stylus and Cantilever Cleaning - DAP Blue Stik
I have been using it for a few years on various carts from $1000-$3500 and in all cases it works great. The stylus on all my carts look pristine even after hundreds of hours on them. I had used a magic eraser and that works pretty much the same, b...
Anyone have a Little Fwend tonearm lifter?
I've got one on my Origin Live Resolution TT. Easy to set up, works great, looks great. It's not the cheapest product, but it gets a lot of use and looks much better than most of the other lifters out there.
Highest detail cartridges
Of the carts that are being mentioned I own three of them: the Lyra Delos, The ART-9, and the Soundsmith MIMIC Star. Personally I like the Delos the best, it has slightly more weight and better punch than the others, it also sounds more like real ...
Relaxing Records for Better Sound - Using the AFI FLAT
I am in the US and have an AFI Flat MK2 that I bought direct last month. I agree with bluewolf assessment of the Flat. Personally I think it is a great piece of equipment. It looks great, but I have mine in my basement so no one but me really get ...
Fun Analog Upgrade Challenge
I would upgrade the phono stage, absolutely. Luxman, Pass, Moon, or Whest.
Is USB audio dying?
USB is not dying at all. Like others have said it is getting better. That said, putting Ethernet right in the DAC can eliminate the Ethernet to USB converter that many of us are using (sonore, sotm, etc). I still see the initial stages of audio ov...
WI-FI ROUTERS and Modems. BEST!! brand and why.
Manged Networks for a large Software Company for years. I use to use Netgear and Cisco/linksys for years but over time they have become buggy. disconnects for no reasons slow downs etc. I switched to Ubiquiti a few years ago and have had zero prob...
Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
I am more interested to hear why those who are hearing a difference in the sound of their files via Ethernet cabling think it is happening? The most obvious reason is the Ethernet protocol is failing in a way that is allowing corrupt packets to ma...
Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
The easiest way I can explain it is with this analogy: You order a CD and it comes to your house packaged in a cardboard box, you open the package and play the CD on you CDP. If the same CD was sent to your house in a nice metal box with gold flak...
Digitizing LPs
@dgarretson try clickrepair lot's of people use it. It does a great job, try it on a low setting of10-20 and then manually fix the few clicks that it leaves behind. It's pretty transparent.
Question for tube aficionados
So that's the problem with tube rolling, they sound different and depending on your tastes and your system they may or may not work for you. I found the Telefunkens to be pretty good, I liked them more than some Amprex tubes, including Bugle boys....
Tonearm rewiring
Do you know how to solder? I rewired my Music hall 7.1 tonearm (project 9c) I used Cardas wiring and cardas clips. Really wasn't too difficult. I would do it again if I needed to. Just take it slow.
