Another Cable Burn-in Question
Thank you!
Another Cable Burn-in Question
Yes, except I have no other components besides another decent CD player that has balanced outs other wise I'd obviously use a less expensive source. But you reply confirms that there is no consensus of opinion as to whether the pre needs to be pow...
Another Cable Burn-in Question
Glory- I'd almost be inclined to hand deliver them just to hear your system! I'll give it until next week and then I might take you up on that generous offer. Thanks.
Another Cable Burn-in Question
Cyclonicman- the new cable is the Signal Cable silver resolution. I have been using this cable from pre to amp for over a year and for the money it is excellent, better than the AQ Jaguar here imo. I was curious whether using the same cable to con...
Another Cable Burn-in Question
Can't use my tuner as it only has RCA outs and my new ic is XLR. I have an XLO test and burn-in CD with demagnetizing and burn-in tracks. Would there be any advantage in terms of burn-in time to use this instead of a music CD? Thanks for your resp...
What equipment or event thrust you into the hobby?
As a teenager-early seventies, listening to Ten Years After / Cricklewood Green / Love Like A Man on a friend's system (actually I think it was his dad's), unsure of integrated, unsure of TT except that I had never seen a full size platter before,...
ARC CD-2, dac or player upgrade?
Hedgehog,I'd be very interested in knowing what Steve H. at GNSC says about mods for the cd-2. Thanks. BTW, I tried one of herbies cd mats and the cd-2 would not play properly. wondering if the transport needs re-alignment.
ARC CD-2, dac or player upgrade?
Yes, I am running balanced outputs to the pre. I thought GNSC didn't modify ARC players. Do you know anyone who had their ARC player modified by GNSC?
ARC CD-2, dac or player upgrade?
Overhang, any recommendations for a dac since you apparently tried many?
ARC CD-2, dac or player upgrade?
Tubemiser, I recently substituted an upgraded meridian 508.24 and was struck by a naturalness in the upper mids and highs that I perceive to be lacking in the ARC. Also, the meridian seemed to dig deeper in the lows. However, the meridian also see...
Magnepan MG1 rebuilds?
Slipknot1,I had a pair of MG-1c's since 1984 which I babied for 13 years when I managed to knock one over. The speaker fell flat on its face onto a carpeted floor and the impact shattered the mylar diaphragm. Other than that, there was no other da...
Who is the sexiest female vocalist?
Yes, Diana Krall, but I gotta admit I've always had this "thing" for Stevie Nicks...
Cardas Neutral Reference vs AQ Caldera
John 1, it's interesting that over the course of many years of upgrading one component at a time (due primarily to budget constraints), increased transparency has been a double edged sword. By that I mean that sometimes you hear things from associ...
Cardas Neutral Reference vs AQ Caldera
Rigby- No I don't think so. However, it's sometimes helpful to know the system context. Most serious review articles list associated equipment for just this reason. If the rest of my gear was from RS, the question would be irrelevant.
DNA-1 SMc A/B mods: More laid back?
The most obvious improvement I noticed with the rev. B mod was that everything sounded smoother, less grainy. In short, it was more musically satisfying. Definetly worth doing, a significant improvement to an already very good amp.
