Oppo UDP-203 or 205 reviewed in TAS Jan 2018 Issue?
Yep, must have been a mistake, and the funny thing was they must have clearly communicated to OPPO that it was the 203, because OPPO's full page ad for the 203 in the same issue marks it as the award winner...
Just retired and want to get back to vinyl listening
I had a similar situation as you - check out the Tannoy Prestige Line, they are efficient and can be placed close to a wall - I went from Klipsch Chorus (Cornwall successor) to Tannoy Turnberry and really fell in love with the Tannoys.  I also bri...
Oppo Vs Esoteric
For those who prefer the more expensive players mentioned, can you describe any efforts you may have taken wherein you played the same exact music (duplicate CDs) through both players at the same time through the same preamp, switching back and fo...
Tannoy Prestige made in China?
I wonder if it differs by model.  My Kensington stickers (like the one in the picture) says "made in the UK" where that one says "made in China."
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened?
I had 2 E112s die after very little use, less than one year each and used infrequently.  The only reason I had two was JL replaced the first one (under warranty).  The new one then died.  In their favor, customer service was great.  But I will not...
Tannoy Turnberry SE vs Kensington SE - Semi Review
Follow up.  Since my first post I have about doubled the hours on the Kensington's.  As far as hoping they would "open up" like the Turnberry's, it seemed like one day (at about 60 solid hours to include more full frequency burn in tracks, not jus...
Tannoy Turnberry SE vs Kensington SE - Semi Review
Thanks all, hope it has been informative.  Noromance, for me, all things being equal, yes.  As always it is a subjective and personal choice, especially based on budget.  Generally the K's seem to be about double the T's cost.  At retail, here in ...
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps?
I've never heard anyone say that their component sounded worse after break in.  If break in is a real phenomenon, then statistically how is that possible?  Unless it explains why we constantly 'upgrade' to new gear.  What if gear only sounded good...
Audiogon "Member Since" Dates errors
Interesting, I noticed when I read my own feedback it says "member since 2001" but in the main area profile it says 2005, so it must be just some kind of error.  I did notice I do in fact have a couple feedback posts from 2002, but I believe there...
looking pre tube for mc452
I heard an ARC REF3 driving a MC402 a couple years ago at a fellow audiogoner's house.  I thought the combo was stellar.
McIntosh C22 Unsolved Problem - for techs/smart guys/EEs
Follow up - so I shipped off the unit to Audio Classics as a last ditch effort (I live on the opposite Coast) knowing if anyone would know, they would.  I got it back a few weeks ago, and it has been working withhout issue.  As always, they did a ...
McIntosh C22 Unsolved Problem - for techs/smart guys/EEs
Thanks all, I'll try the tape switch.  These units never had 3 prongs, only two, made in 1960...
Tannoy?
I had the same problem.  I had been looking into them for years on the web, and having read all I could find on the prestige line became very fascinated with them, for a lot of reasons.  I went to a show just to see if the Tannoy room had them, ev...
Tannoy vs. ATC
After re-reading some of my comments here I wanted to correct a couple things that were probably not exactly what I wanted to say.  First, I mentioned I have to sit on the ground with the Tannoy's.  To clarify, if I want my ears to be level with t...
Tannoy vs. ATC
Jetexpro, they do very well.  I'm listening to Vaughn Williams' "Sea Symphony" right now, with peaks on my radio shack spl meter upwards of 97 db.  Instruments remain separated, the sound is uncongested, no strain (effortless, as Pani talks about ...
