Audiogon is infected?
I have seen it on 2 different PCs.  Only from Audiogon on Chrome.  Malwarebytes warning.
Interconnects and non-believers
Cables clearly make a huge difference.  After I bought my first system I was really upset that I could hear almost nothing.  Then I tried interconnects and speaker cables and wow, the sound was so much better!
Speakers "Disappearing"
Keep in mind that even with the best speakers, placement, and recording, the speakers will "disappear" only in a listening sweet spot likely not to envelop more than 1-3 listening positions.I had a pair of Martin Logans for a while.  They imaged v...
Looking for amp advice (punk, rock & reggae edition)
I have a similar taste in music.  REL subs my friend!
speakers with balls
Monitor Audio silver series are a good compromise between fidelity, balance, and sharpness.  Great for metal and prog.BTW I have a pair of Maggie 3,3s rebuilt by John VanL and with 2 REL Subs that is a very good rocking combo. Ive blown a few twee...
Killing Joke anyone???
in a parallel universe hi-end audio stores would use killing joke or fugazi Actually, in this universe.  When I bought my first pair of non-Best-Buy speakers, I went to Saturday Audio Exchange, which is a Chicago audio institution (and I love ...
Killing Joke anyone???
Be sure and check out the one they did with Grohl (Killing Joke 2003) Agreed. This is a great album.
Killing Joke anyone???
KJ is the best.  I saw them in 1989 and they blew the doors off the Cabaret Metro in Chicago.  Seminal, really important in the industrial dance/metal movement.Anyone who sticks their audiophile nose up in the air about KJ doesn't know music histo...
What are the best loudspeakers under $4000 to re-create lifelike piano
I feel like questions like this are mostly an invitation to brag about one's system.  So I will join in:Focal Electra 1007BEThe reason this came to mind is that there is a review - Stereophile I think - that mentions these speakers as being perfec...
Levinson ML-11
Thanks Peter.  I saw both of those auctions and I'm seeing if the pricing on the lower priced one is negotiable at all.  Building a power supply is also an option I guess, but doesn't seem the most efficient use of $$ since if I can get an ML-11 a...

Why is the snake oil topic closed?
I'd like to chime back in here.  I think what is appropriate or inappropriate relative to forum participation in certain threads depends on the context and the purpose of the thread:(1) When someone asks the community for advice on the best power ...
MQA decoding and CD ripping
Check out Roon.  It should, pretty soon, do a software MQA decode and it is superb for managing collections.  Not very configurable or flexible, or inter-operable with other media software, but a nice user experience.

Bump.  Just keeping this up front for a few days in the hope someone uses this combo...
My rant; we don't know what we don't know
It's a neurosis or a compulsion disguised as a hobby. But it's more fun than scratching eczema.  And there are those magic random moments when your system emits pure bliss for just a couple songs.
