Review: Bose 201 Series V
Ok you guys might think I’m crazy and why did I even bother! Last year there was a set of 201 series v left out in front of a neighbor’s house along with some other items. I grabbed the speakers and hooked them up to my Paco el84 intagrated amp, p...
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000
Sbank,I didn't see your last post, all I can say is you won't be disappointed. I've never had the urge to look any further than an Audiomods.EnjoyJP
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000
I've owned an audiomods arm since 2013 and had it on both an Empire table as well as a Rega  rp3 Union Jack. Couldn't be happier, I find the Audiomods to be clean and open in sound performance. It's counter weight shims makes a variety of cartridg...
Who makes budget speaker cables which are truly “good” or “exceptional” in quality?
I use JW Audio, which are 12 gauge OFC pure copper. They sound strong and clear and I think I payed around $80 for an 8' pair. Super performance at real world prices, if your not one who has to have silver in their set up. They are a bit stiff and...
Newbie here with a cable question
I agree with robergerman, Anticables would probably do the trick. I use JW audio cables and my own raw material. Essentially solid core OFC wire, which I believe Anticables are.JP:)
Crosley should be arrested for selling junk
Two things MattMiller said that really stands out and I agree with. One, although there are nice modern sounding pressings, in some cases  I find early and original pressings to possess a depth or life to them that some reproductions are lacking. S...
Cartridges: Complete Scam?
Hi MadavidOI returned back to vinyl about 9 years ago. Although I had continued to collect some 78s over the years, this was the first time since about 1992 since I'd had a real set up. Since my return I've bought a hand full cartridges as well as...
Opening a can of worms
Every set of cables I've bought from an audio company I've been told was cryogenically treated or burned in. I just thought OK it couldn't hurt, but I haven't notice any change in sound as I have used them.I can say different insulation and tensio...
Do you listen mainly to Audiophile CDs and records?
At home particularly in the evening I listen to a lot of Bosa Nova, Henry Mancini and similar artist. The audio quality of these recordings sound really good to me. During the day whether on vinyl at home or on satellite radio in the car or work, ...
Opening a can of worms
So my first venture into  some what higher end cables, was a pair of JPS interconnects. This pair is some sort of aluminum copper hybrid which sounded smooth and open and better than what I was using. Soon after I purchased JW Audio solid core OFC ...
Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ??
Around the time I got back into vinyl I purchased a Rega p324. To me it sounded clean and with all the prat they talk about. Then shortly after I really fell in love with the old Empire tables, so I found a 208, dampened it up and threw a SME m2-9...
MONO cartridge recommendation
I as of recent had also been thinking about a mono cartridge for Beatles and vintage lps. Before I decided to drop down any money it dawned on me I had a Grado 78 cartridge laying around. The next thing I did was grab my paratrace stylus off my go...
How to choose a cartridge you can't hear on your system?
This post is bringing out some good points. One can only really cross reference from brand experience, discription and referral.I think when you take into account real wage inflation from say 30 to 50 years ago but also consider the smaller demand...
Cartridge Suggestion Requested
I wanted to throw one more suggestion out, and that is a Shure m95he. $200 bucks at lp gear nos. clean head to toe, rich with a strong bass with out sounding muddling or lopping off the top end. Sure my Empires and Grados are a bit smoother with a...
Cartridge Suggestion Requested
I've never owned an Ortofon 2m series, but I do have a super om30 that I like.I find it to be very clean sounding with a gorgeous mid range and top end.Airy and sweet with a tight bass. Perhaps not quite the thump in the bass I like but fairly neu...
