$2000-$3000 integrated with DAC ???
The Uniti stuff is very versatile and great sounding IMO. They've got digital inputs, iPod input (Qute is digital, the Uniti might be), tuner, internet tuner, and streaming all built in. The only thing it doesn't have is a phono stage. The Uniti h...
$2000-$3000 integrated with DAC ???
If you split your budget between an external DAC and an integrated, you'll have far more options. Is this a situation where only one box will work? You may be able to find a used Naim Uniti or UnitiQute here within your budget. They don't come up o...
Dedicated Line
If your computer has an optical output, using that to your DAC could eliminate the need for a separate line for the computer, as there's no electrical connection through optical.
MMF-7?
I'm pretty sure the Pro-Ject Speed Box would work with it. Music Hall has a version with their name on it too. The Speed Box is a very big upgrade on the Pro-Ject decks, which have the same motor (and other stuff) as the Music Hall decks.Call the ...
which turntable to buy for $1500 best value ?
Rega P3-24, TTPSU and Dynavector 10x5 should mop the floor with your P2. The P3-24 with TTPSU sounds better than the P5 without it to my ears. Then again, you could get a P5 and add the TTPSU when funds recover.Haven't heard the RP series to comment.
Stupid speaker test question...please help a n00b
Green Mountain Audio is the only manufacturer I can recall consistantly giving speaker distortion specs.
What are the best interconnects.
Again, I can't personally vouche for them as I've never dealt with them. A few people I trust have dealt with them and they had nothing but good things to say about them.
Getting and keeping records clean................
"Sso, has the steam cleaning craze faded?"Nope. I use one every time before I vacuum. I was going to mention it, but somehow I lost my internet connection and posted at the same time. Odd.Get a handheld steamer! I bought one for $25 or so. In conj...
Rega RP3 or Pro-ject Expression III?
Some of the difference was due to the different carts, but a lot of it was due to the RP3 being a better deck. I'm not the biggest fan of Rega's carts, but for the price of it with the deck it's a no-brainer. Others love them though. It's all pref...
Coax to Optical Converters Anygood?
Good points, Al. However, perhaps the DAC/unit in question has a sort of asynch function built in. Possibly a Pace Car, if you will, built in?I don't know the unit, nor have I looked it up. Just theorizing. If the unit is truly insensitive to jitte...
Need Advice On A Network Music Player
Thanks Mapman. After posting the question, I read about a few quirks with connecting an external hard drive to the touch. I think it's mainly non-powered hard drives (portables?).To eliminate the possibility of noise from the hard drive, an optica...
Benefits of brand synergy
"Don't know too much about Naim, but is it possible to use Naim with non-Naim?"Yes it is. It used to be and still can be a pain in the rear end. For the longest time, Naim only used DIN connections (except for turntable inputs). They now have DINs...
Need Advice On A Network Music Player
A stupid question perhaps, and sorry if I'm hijacking...Can you connect a USB hard drive directly to the Squeezebox Touch, or does it solely work by streaming? If you can connect directly without any computer running, this changes the advice I pre...
How important is an audio rack?
My post has nothing to do with turntables nor looks. Turntable isolation is critical, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I haven't heard any differences. I own a $6k-ish system (new MSRP, not what I paid, and not including my turntable), a...
Rega RP3 or Pro-ject Expression III?
Forgot to ask... What cartridge will you use?
