Dad needs phono stage recommendation for daughter
Does anyone know about the Music Hall PA2.2? It seems fairly new and at my daughter's upper price range, but it offers an a/d converter (24bit/96kHZ) plus a headphone amp. She has thousands of songs on her laptop and listens to music in her car. I...
Hello, FM experts: What's the best type of outdoor antenna for my location?
Clue50,I have found it difficult to pick one due to the scarcity of the choices these days which led me to th LP8. This indecision caused me to drop the ball, but getting a replacement is still lurking around in the back of my mind.I own the SE En...

Dad needs phono stage recommendation for daughter
Jond, those are a couple of great recommendations, but I think we'll be looking at new, because my daughter will need a little time to save up for the phono of choice.  By then, the listings may be gone, so a question of timing.Yogiboy, I'm somewh...
Turntable sounds so much better when...
This is all weird, but...Maybe with the headshell tightened you are getting mechanical vibrations that you may not know about causing distortion. Loosening the headshell may be dealing with some of those vibrations. You may receive even greater ni...
Still looking for speakers in the 10-20,000 range
Fast,Describe the sound that does it for you, otherwise all this advice is throwing darts and probably why you keep looking. If you're not sure, keep listening and spend the money to do so. For your price range, you will know what does it for you ...
Preamp tubes ran their life?
The control pots from the old days (I.e., Dynaco, Eico, etc.) were known to get dusty and make noise. Yup, you had to spray them. I would not think your Mac would have that problem, but I'm not familiar with it. If you move the volume control back...
Preamp tubes ran their life?
The NOS tubes in my phono stage have been sounding great for nine years now, so if it is your Mullards that seems short lived or a defect. Are the Mullards supposed to be NOS? Is it coming from both channels? Both tubes, both channels, same time, ...
Crosley Turntable...record spins but no music plays
Try checking...If there's a switch to change from turntable (phono) to your phone input jack. When you plug in your phone, does that automatically switch out your turntable? If so, the phone jack itself may be jammed (stuck) internally in the aux m...
Ikea Eket shelves with a large vinyl collection?
I have the single Kallax unit that measures 6' x 6' and gives you 25 cubes. It is solid after assembly, plus you need to use the wall brackets that they provide for additional support and safety. Mine is black and up against a wall in the room rig...
Open Baffle. Why are they mostly limited to DIY?
Kalali,Thanks, it's been over 50 years in the works. I'm not a man of great means, so doing the slow crawl forward.I'm close to getting there, I mean for real for me!Kenny
Open Baffle. Why are they mostly limited to DIY?
Yes, I decided to go DIY with OB subs in order gain fill-in from an open floor plan. So, no corners for my main speakers. In my case, speaker distance from my front wall was not an issue, so the subs are over four feet out.As bdp24 mentions above,...
Fix it or not, my CJ Premier 11a Amp?
Okay, fix it I will!!!Before shipping my amp out somewhere, I would like to find out if there's a quality repair place locally. I'm in the Boulder, Colorado area, so I'm familiar with some of the hi-end manufacturers here like Boulder, Ayre, Avalo...

What is it that you don't like about your Listening Room ?
It's unconventional, so not my first choice, but it worked out and I like it. The room provided challenges. The front wall is a 10 foot long bearing wall with open space 360 degrees around it. In my case, not a small room problem.Kenny
