DIY Flexi First attempt.
Geez, Dave, I've got my table on an 1 1/2" thick maple shelves flexy rack and it sounds 'crazy good':_)I do have to be careful walking up to it, tho. I'd prefer to have it on my former set-up on a Target Pro wall shelf but can't where I now live.I...

How often do you folks vacuum clean your albums?
Me too. The MF is a felt pad, not a brush. Before and after looks with the flashlight show about 80% of the light-reflecting specs gone after a 'felting'.Funny thing, tho', almost nothing accumulates on the stylus. Where does all that schmutz go?

I clean with a 1 hp shop-vac, a slot in the crevice tool surrounded by paint pad. First RRL super deep and then super wash for a rinse. Dry enough to play after a few revolutions. Into a new plastic lined paper sleeve.Does a great job, lots quiete...

Let me see if I've got this right: you spend $600 on a record cleaner and have to clean the records in the sink before using it?
New SACD player Marantz SA8001 : leave it on?
My 8001 has been on, with just a few breaks for rack moving, equipment changes, etc., for over a year. Always sounds great.I listen mostly to vinyl and only play it as background or when I'm too tired to go near my Virtuoso Wood with the terrifyin...

Leveling your turntable, your approach?
David, you are one dedicated tablesmith. I don't like round levels; use one of those 4" line levels for framing. Place it along the path 'tween spindle and stylus. Level there is all that matters, I've seen too many platters that are level there b...
S.M.E. 10 owners
Imagine you have it level but what about lateral balance adjustment?Did you buy it used? The other thing it might be, altho' I'm familiar only with the cueing of 3000 series, is a worn support. On older SME arms the support wears/gets slippery. Cl...

Cat owner wants speakers
More feline behaviorism. In addition to all the above, cats are opportunists. They will scratch at whatever is available when the mood strikes them as well as their favorites. That's why speakers get scratched despite trainig. My solution is placing...
Best Cartridges for the Money You've Experienced
Raul, thanks for the reply. I missed that mention. Not familiar with the Tribute. I ask because the last ten years I've only used MCs: Talisman Virtuoso, DV 10x5, 47 McBee and now Benz Ace Low. The McBee was killer but a review sample now gone. Ha...

Curious as to why Raul doesn't seem to have tried any Grados?
Name a couple of HOLY GRAIL LPs
Absolute #1 of any genre, Prokofieff: Lt. Kije and Stravinsky: Song of the Nightingale, Reiner/Chicago.The original RCA LSC-2150 is a gem and in my top ten along with some of those already mentioned, the Classic re-issue is top 5 but the Chesky re...

Use Q-tips.Dip the Q-tip and raise it with a glob of stuff and turn until it doesn't drip, then discard. Do another and another.
