Expectations for warranty repair timing
This is a small but established company with a loyal following and lots of reviews online.  There's no dealer to fall back on - they sell direct.  If it were an issue of locating parts or something else specific that's delaying things, that's fine...
Expectations for warranty repair timing
They tell me they're not sure yet why the problem is happening and won't rush it.  That's it.
Expectations for warranty repair timing
Thanks, Photon46, that's helpful.  I don't mind waiting - I just want to make sure this is industry standard.  Sounds like maybe it is.  Of course, an update once in a while would go a long way.
Expectations for warranty repair timing
Thanks.  This isn't extensive damage, but the manufacturer appears to be having trouble fixing the problem (though they've clearly been able to replicate it).  Question is, when should they offer a replacement unit or refund if they can't get it r...
Bluesound Node 2 vs. Auralic Aries Mini
I used them both with a Red Wine Audio Isabellina and a NuPrime DAC-9, both of which are on the warm side.   I do use an upgraded power supply (HDPlex), and to be honest I heard less of an improvement than I expected, both when using the Aries as ...
Bluesound Node 2 vs. Auralic Aries Mini
I owned both and compared them directly over an extended period.  They sound surprisingly different.  The Bluesound is considerably warmer, and the Aries Mini is faster and more incisive.  That basic difference was present whether using the intern...
Auralic Aries w NOS DAC
Thanks, Wisnon. Is there any consensus yet on whether the Aries sounds different through the different outputs? I would happily just use coax if there is no difference in sound quality. If I'm just using the coax output (which I think already util...
Auralic Aries w NOS DAC
Hi Margot,Have you actually compared the W4S and Empirical Audio? If so I'd be interested in your notes. Without any of the upgrades, the W4S and Empirical Audio appear to be exactly the same thing with a $200 price difference...
Auralic Aries w NOS DAC
Right - and one of the questions is whether there will be a major difference between the two Aries models if you have an NOS DAC that's not capable of hi-res. Would be interested to hear if anyone has thoughts on that. Also, has anyone compared the...
Auralic Aries w NOS DAC
Mas1951: many thanks for the synchro-mesh recommendation. I currently use a Pure i-20 digital iPod dock as transport, and inserting the synchro-mesh could be a good, cheaper alternative to switching over to an Auralic Aries. Interesting thought!
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
I wish I could return the Rega, but alas I'm well passed the warranty period. Part of the reason for a new cartridge is simply to have another "baseline" with which to isolate whatever technical problem is going on here, which is difficult to do w...
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
Hi all,Well, I've established that the cartridge is perfectly aligned according to a Rega Baerwald protractor I found online. I have no way to test the phono stage at this point (no other turntable to use as a baseline), but my hunch is that someo...
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
One more note: I know it's often the case that distortion is more common in loud passages due to grooved-out records or toward the end of an album due to cartridge misalignment. This distortion isn't related to volume or location of the stylus on ...
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
Hi all,Sorry for the delay and thanks for your responses. The catridge connections all appear very solid. Unfortunately I've only got the one phono stage, so I have no way of swapping it out.Dougdeacon, here's a bit more info: The distortion is de...
2nd hand classical Lps in London
Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to find an actual music store with a decent and organized collection rather than resorting to the charity shops with a few random and moldy LPs sitting in the corner (though I am happy to give them my business f...
