Went to Grant Fidelity and now my computer thinks I speak French!
Pass 250.5 shuts down driving Magnepan 3.7
The OPs answer on the planar asylum: I can't figure out what he did except hook it back up after litle success with Cary amps.....?I finally went back and hooked up my Pass Labs 250.5 and I've had nothing but great music since. The fact that my pa...
Ways to Reduce Atmospheric Noise
Some hardware stores sell tiles about 2 feet on a side....usually in 4 packs. The tiles link together. I use 'em in front of my workbench and have one for yardwork, as a kneeler. They are about and inch thick, hard foam.

I'll be sure to be as unhelpful as possible if you ever have a problem, ebm.Nice attitude.

Over at the Asylum, the OP posed the same question. He has resolved his problem...which didn't get updated over here. So, painful as it was, problem solved...........

Who's 'in a world of hurt'?
Need to replace meter lights with leds Carver amp
Failing the call to Carver,You could always measure the voltage.A diode in series, with a dropping resistor may work? Online calculators will allow you to determine the correct resistor.....1/4watt is probably good enough.

That would be nice if the Maggies dropped that low....See AA for resolution to OPs problem.....
Listing of Opamps for EE Minimax DAC Plus
Right you are.My bad. Here is an example of a 5 pin case, SOT-23http://octopart.com/mcp6021t-e/ot-microchip-419137Other dual inline cases go up in pincount. I see references to Quad Opamps....14 or 16 pin? Now, where did I see a 4 pin case?
Magnepan announces the 20.7
Josh is well aware of the 'third rail' nature of talking about panel vibrations and the various theories.Magnepan vibration theories abound. Wood perhaps absorbs vibration which may 'reflect' back from the MDF and cause problems. That's why I'm no...

Botit,Phase angle? Well, a resistor is sort of a pure load. Any energy stored is generally as heat. Voltage and current rise and fall together. With capacitive or inductive loads, voltage and current do NOT rise and fall together. Tubes typically d...

I suggest auditioning speakers WITH proposed amps. Buying speakers for amps OR amps for speakers is the short way to madness.Buying / auditioning together, especially for people just learning, is best done in a shop with some experienced guidance....
OPPO BD95 output question
One major reason to go with the '95 over the '93 is the balanced outputs...which the OP will make NO use of......So? '93 it is.
I've narrowed it down...
B&W is not generally a tube-friendly load.Crossover? Well, electrically, most B&W are a very reactive load...meaning it looks like a capacitor or inductor to the amp. Large impedance swings aren't fun for tubes, either.SS is best.

without getting into controversial territory, it is clear that Maggies are a DIY dream come true.Stands? have fans Crossover mods? for sure Bi/Triamp setups? absolutely Active vs Passive crossover? yes Full wood reframe? on the table Sound damping...
