Quiet Enjoyment: right of audiophiles neighbors to NOT be annoyed
I lived in the "country" for 34 years before recently retiring to a condo. I used to blast my system whenever I wanted, day or night. Thought moving to a condo was going to be a problem, but I adjusted nicely. Between aging and jazz entering my mu...
Which courier do you prefer?
Don't forget UPS's horrible reputation for not paying claims. Almost all claims will be denied at first and you will have to fight them to the end to get them to pay. I'm talking even about original packing/ boxes and packing that meets their onli...
Vibration Isolation
Go to your local HVAC supply house. They have them in larger sizes. And dirt cheap.
Mcintosh MA6100 How do I remove the front glass to replace lamps????
You can get the bulbs online from Audio Classics in NY. Just give them your model. I did my own without any issues. If you're at all handy it should be no problem. Just start by removing all the knobs, then the rest will fall into place.
Should I upgrade my system while losing my hearing?
Yes, upgrade. Turn the volume up as needed and enjoy!
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
It comes down to how much you want to spend. You didn't mention any of the prices. The Dragon, sent over to Willy Hermann for service, and you will have the best Nak deck. Of coarse my opinion, and some here will argue that.
Low Hours Phono Cartridges?
I've bought a few used cartridges here with good results. That is reason enough for me to consider buying used again. My criteria is under 100 hours, shooting for 75 hours or less. It's pretty hard to lie about a cart with that little use. They do...
Turntables
I used that buy used philosophy back in 2008 for my return to analog after 20 - 25 years. I bought a used VPI Aries for about $1600.00. Long story short, I am still amazed by how crazy good this table sounds. 10 years later it is still in my syste...
Turntables
I would recommend buying used. You can turn around and sell it for around the same price it was bought for if you decide vinyl is not your cup of tea. You will be out at least 50% of your purchase price if you buy new and decide to sell.
Klipsch Heritage vs Zu audio
I had the Klipschorns for around 25 years. I built my listening room addition around those speakers. They need a large room and 2 good corners. I retired about 3 years ago and moved into a condo so they had to go. I ended up with the Zu Def 4.Klip...
Klipsch Klipschorn speakers
I had Klipschorns for 25 years or so and absolutely loved them. I built my family room addition to accommodate these, so never had some of the issues others speak about. Drove them with several amps over the years and I would have to say an old re...
Good FM tuner for around $1K
There is a McIntosh MR78 right now over on Audio Asylum asking $900.00
Good FM tuner for around $1K
McIntosh  MR78 should be right in your budget.
VPI 16.5 vacuum cleaner
I have to ask, have you removed the clamp from the drain tube?
Your Forever Pieces? What and Why?
Thanks for your info on the 202MkVII Al. Good to knowI just wanted to let R2R and cassette deck owners know that there is another alternative to repairing these decks at a (probably) lower cost than Soundsmith or Willie Herman. I’ve used New Jerse...
