Speakers (KEF/Wharfedale/Axiom/ELAC) for my First Budget Setup with Wyred4Sound mINT
For your price range I agree on going the active route.  Never heard the KEF's but all the positive write ups speak for themselves and don't think you could go wrong with them.  I would also definitely check out the Airpulse Model 1's  I've owned ...
Harbeth P3 vs KEF LS50W
From other reviews I've read people who've heard both prefer the active version  if you do decide to go active check into the Airpulse model 1  as well.  I've been meaning to do a follow up review on these as I've owned them now for a little over ...
Best small used monitors under $1000
For that budget skip the separates and go active  The Airpulse Model One"s will easily outperform anything under $1000.00
Best small used monitors under $1000
If you're willing to go the active route I highly recommend the Airpulse Model One's - $995.00   I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and Just a great all around speaker for the price and then some. I'm going to be doing an updated review on th...
Best bookshelf speaker reccomendations?
I've been listening to the Airpulse Model one's (Phil Jones' latest speaker) now for about two weeks and I have to say I'm very impressed.  If you're interested in going the active route I suggest you consider them.  I would have to say for their ...
Clint Eastwood
When I was speaking with Phil Jones a couple of months ago he mentioned that Clint Eastwood was using speakers he had designed.  can't remember the exact model but recall they were very pricey
KEF LS50W vs Emotiva + Elemental Designs W6-6TC
I'm expecting delivery of Phil Jones' latest creation:  The Airpulse Model 1 next week which are active blue tooth enabled monitors with built in dac and Dsp.   My reason for  going this route is to eliminate all the cabling, interconnects, speake...

Dekay:They are the Airpulse Model 1 and I'll be taking delivery of mine at the end of the month and post a review shortly thereafter.  They have been described as having a full range electrostatic quality going down to 30hz.  I s/w Phil Jones and ...
MMGs
I actually thought the Gunned SMGA.s sounded better then the 1.6's  John thought the 1.6's sounded better but wasn't surprised as several others had expressed the same feeling and it may be more affordable for you.  Didn't' hear the MMG's though
New active speakers from AE1 designer
These piqued my interest after seeing this post,  and after speaking with Phil Jones I went ahead with the purchase for the pre sale introductory price.  Never owned active speakers but these sound awfully good.  I'll post a review when I get them...
MMGs
I'll second what  Chataudio said, I heard both the "gunned Smga's and the 1.6's approx 10 yrs ago and both were outstanding sonically and aestically - a real plus considering Maggie's are butt ugly. I still regret passing up the opportunity to get...
Harbeth HL Compact
Went over to the sellers house today for an audition. He had the speakers on the floor approx. 2' apart with his couch about 3 to 4' in front of them against the wall, I literally felt I was right on top of them   His front end was a newer Yamaha ...
Harbeth HL Compact

Harbeth HL Compact
Thanks for the responseJust finished going through that particular forum and not really very much info unfortunately on the HL compact,  just that it shared the same mid/bass driver as the shl5 at the time which was a TPX driver

Tiimlub, that kit looks interesting but is currently sold out.  Are they fairly easy to drive  without any wicked impedance  swings and how are they with tubes.  Sorry for hijacking the thread
