Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
Rwd.. the VR-7's are not mass produced... in fact you order them and then wait for 6+ months. Not to mention the $25k price. These factors have kept the ownership to a minimum. You are welcome to come hear them if you are ever in the Charlotte NC a...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
Ozfly, the rear firing tweeter is on a seperate circuit. The volume is adjustable and even on full has very little output. It just adds a bit of "space" to the presentation. I have my speakers about 6.5 feet from the back wall and don't use or nee...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
5 years with the Von Schweikert VR-7's. They keep getting better with time and allow all the upstream changes to come thru. I had the VR-6's for several years before these and the VR-7s are worthy of lifetime ownership mike
BAT VK75SE buzz and humming ?? help..
Matt, I have the same amp. I use a balanced isolation power transformer for all my power (Equitech).I have to put my ear near the speaker to hear a hum.I'm sure Victor will be able to help you out. The amp is wonderful sounding. Hope you get this ...
Lamm ML2 Vs Tenor 75
To clairify my last statement about OTL's. The tube is directly connected to the speakers. So if a tube shorts, it can send lots of current to the speakers.A transformer based amp, isolates this current along with other saftey features. mike
Lamm ML2 Vs Tenor 75
Henry.. OTL's are directly conneted to your speaker. Thats why there is a greater chance for a "blow-out".There are probably some safety measures in the amp or possibly some you cn add before your speakers.. but they will compromise the sonics.I h...

Bi-amped vs. bridged to mono
The EVO's bridged are the way to go. The channels are run in differential mode. So the noise floor is lowered. Not to mention the SET sound and the extra headroom you will have.Right now I am running with 2 EVo2 amps mono in my system. Very nice.....
Von Schweikerts or Coincidents or ?
Von Schweikert uses the latest in speaker technologyThe VR-7's use the revaltor tweeter.. One of the most expensive and best sounding around. Mids are Aerogel whiich are also among the best. The Xover upgrade you talk about also involves silver wir...
12ax7's
A 5751 will give a bit less gain, but it also has less distortion than a 12ax7. A much quieter tube.RCA made a tripe mica version of this tube that is very durable and wonderful sounding. Look around for them.. well worth the effort. mike
Von Schweikerts or Coincidents or ?
I own the Vonschweikert VR-7's. Have not found anything that betters them yet. Had a friend over and he heard my system and then purchased the VR-5 HSE due to room size. The VR-5's are excellent and carry much of the sonic signiture of the 7's. The...
Legacy Whisper-- Opininions
I found the Legacy Whisper lacking the refinement for a speaker in this price range. It was not focused and lacked the ability to make the music sound natural. I find them to be "over-done". More went into the quantity aspect than the quality. The...
Recommend Higher Power SET Amp
I own a Bel Canto SET40 which is a single ended triode using the 845 output tube. It's rated at 37wpc. It is a great sounding amp. I use them to drive my Vonschweikert VR-7's. The SET40 is zero feedback design with only 2 stages. The SET80 is a par...
How to clean RCA inputs and outputs?
Go to home depot in the electrical section. They have some contact cleaner in a blue can. It is $6 and leaves no residue. Spray some on a towel and wipe away. It works great... You don't want products that leave a residue.. it attracts dirt. mike
5751 tubes in Rogue Tempest?
I use 5751s in place of 12AX7's in the BC SET40. The 5751's has a little less gain and lower distortion.Try and find some RCA triple mica 5751's. These are the best sounding 5751's I have found. They are hard to find, but worth the effort. mike
