In need of some Amplifier advice. Is therereally any point in it with my current setup?
@audiothesis, Oh don't worry. I acquired 2 new polk LSIM707s, 2 new polk 703s, a polk lsi706c, AND a new Yamaha adventage 3070a receiver for $2,800 on a deal earlier this year from Adorama. I know they definitely aren't worth their MSRP and wouldn...

But yes, the Polk's mid range is fairly weak. When playing piano tracks and solo acoustic guitar tracks, it's quite apparent that they are lacking.

@helomech I kind of assumed the power coming out of the Yamaha was  pretty meh and that as a pre it would probably be....decent. I'm thinking the Halo 21 or comparable would probably be the most logical first step, since I would need to acquire on...
Any new speakers that sound like infinity r.s. 2.5s?
Those do look like some nice speakers. I might have to take a drive to audition some.
Need some Amp help - a little new to properly powering speakers
@Almarg even more light shed and more difficulty added to the mix =). Although, this would make sense. The tweeter and small mid woofer appears to be the same exact design as the LSI25s, which are rated at 4ohms.....most likely due to the woofer b...
Need some Amp help - a little new to properly powering speakers
Also, I feel the need to thank everyone who has posted their opinions and thoughts here. It has helped broaden my understanding. I also read the research on the 1watt charts that were posted. I then looked at the emotiva amps and as someone posted...
Need some Amp help - a little new to properly powering speakers
@Helomech, dynamics are the more appropriate adjective. There was some mid range and high range loss, but anything below -35DB on the Yamaha receiver (150 watt @8ohm) (which again, is a $1,999msrp receiver), had a LOT of dynamic loss.  Then when p...
Need some Amp help - a little new to properly powering speakers
I gave them a shot this morning with a Rotel RX-1052 stereo receiver i had laying around. I know this is also just mid-fi gear but the polk lsim707s sounded much clearer at lower levels with the rotel stereo receiver even though it is rated at 100...
Need some Amp help - a little new to properly powering speakers
I can see that. I figured a fairly expensive flag receiver would produce decent quality power but I guess I should try hooking these up to a 100watt per channel rotel amp I have and see how it sounds.
A/V DACs, how exactly do they work?
Yup! It makes sense. I have a headphone to RCA from my laptop but that seemed a little degrading. I can easily HDMI to it and I also have a usb to RCA splitter. So plenty of ways to get Flacs and other high kbs formats over. Good to know it's as s...
Polk LSI25 Sub woofer amp Problem...Help!!
If not, I figure once the deal fades and Ebay settles I can always get my money back. Hell the receiver alone is going for $1,500 at the lowest at the moment.
Polk LSI25 Sub woofer amp Problem...Help!!
Yeah the sound is great. I managed to fix the amp on my own. I just took the back plate off and i think the board just has very weak heat dispensers. I pulled two transistors apart a little that looked like they had been moved closer together by h...
