A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
I am finding the same with my Audio Mirror Tubadour III DAC which uses the same AD 1865 chip. Contrast is what I hear within recordings and from CD to CD with older masterings sounding better. I use the Cambridge Audio CXC transport which has a re...
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
Too much information? No its just information not resolved or framed well. A good DAC or CD player shouldn't do this. My evaluation technique is to not actively listen and see if the sound draws me into the performance or is it a wall of sound or ...
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
These are the 3 DACs I considered: - Border Patrol SE DAC - MHDT Pagoda - Audio Mirror TUBADOUR IIIDecided on the Audio Mirror DAC because it’s built around the AD1865 chip which is the foundation of the Audio Note DACs which are very highly regar...
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
Check out the R2R DACs, lots of options that aren’t too expensive. The designs are centered around the height of chip development for CD playback. Just when they got it right the industry turned the development another direction.
A comparison between two DACs, one R-2R, the other ES 9038-based.
Your pre/amp might be imposing the same character on both? I’m doing the same now I have an R2R DAC that I’m auditioning against a Rega DAC R and there significant differences, working through extended listening to understand the differences.
Which DAC: Benchmark, Mytek, Audio Mirror, Holo Audio, Mojo Audio?
Please post your impressions on each. Add the Holo Springs to your list if possible it's on top of my list. The Mojo Mystique V2 SE is very interesting but not much information on the net about it.
Non Oversampling DACs
I found this to be an interesting read on the topic of oversampling :https://kitsunehifi.com/nosvsos/
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
This is a much better read about the subject and about the limitations of science/engineer thinking:https://www.stereophile.com/reference/23/index.html
Which DAC: Benchmark, Mytek, Audio Mirror, Holo Audio, Mojo Audio?
Problem with detailed focus digital:I did the CDP climb about 15 years ago, each step up more details were revealed in recording. At the time I thought I was moving into better but what I learned and became aware of later was the number of CDs in ...
Which DAC: Benchmark, Mytek, Audio Mirror, Holo Audio, Mojo Audio?
The Chord Qutest was actually on top of my list until I started digging deeper into some of the discussions. Some people were making claims that it was sterile and analytical. I don't believe everything I read but there seems to be a lot of spamm...
Which DAC: Benchmark, Mytek, Audio Mirror, Holo Audio, Mojo Audio?
I am willing to pay up to $2,500 but question whether that amount really is required. Nothing wrong with the Rega DAC, if I had the $ I would just buy the Rega Isis CDP. To put it into perspective my TT setup is a TW Acoustic TT / DV Xv1s / Tron 7...

CD Player used as transport
"All transports are equal and even better than before, provided you reclock with a Synchro-Mesh."Sounds like a sales pitch :-) so just buy a transport that is reliable and has the functionality you like and the Synchro-Mesh will make it sound no ...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?

SACD & other Formats
Well I made a decision, I don't want to chase a format or be forced down a hardware path because of a format. I tried a few SACDs playing the CD layer (to hear the mastering) and I wasn't inspired. The universal players are not for me because I'm ...
