New Cartridge- Broke the Stylus
I would use the Onzow Zerodust stylus cleaner. It's a bit pricey but it's absolutely worth it! I use it before and after each play on my Benz Ebony cartridge and I can't say I remember a time that a record sounded distorted due to the stylus being...
Anti-Skate::Playing LP's vs. 12
Hifitime: Thanks for the links. I will try what you are saying in conjunction with what Mmakshak has suggested.Stringreen: I noticed with the Ebony, concerning VTA, my arm appears to be tipped up in the back but the playback sounds more smooth and...
How to convert VPI turntable to banlanced?
Audio Research PH-2 is balanced.
Having trouble extracting sound from certain vinyl
Radiohead seems to use phase shifting in their recordings that give it a more stereo wide presentation I think the keys are that way on some tracks on Amnesiac which I have on vinyl. Those sounds may be diminished with azimuth misalignment due to ...
Vinyl sounds a bit thin and slightly strident.
I have a question about effective arm mass and loading at the end but let me start by saying this.Bob, I'm using stock cables on all my gear. The ARC stuff does not have user removable AC cables and I'm not planning on delving that far into tweaki...

Awesome! Thanks. Any thoughts on the component parts and tubes for the LS-7? Jafox(listed above) had stated this:One thing to do right away is get rid of those ARC supplied EH tubes. These are almost as horrible as the Sovtek. You will not believe...

Dgarretson, I like what I'm hearing... My PH-2 has Infinicaps in it now, not sure the model. My LS-7 has Rel-Caps so I suspect they could be upgraded. I spent some time yesterday and rechecked overhang using the VPI supplied protractor and made so...

Thanks for all the responses everyone, this is why I love the 'gon. I'm loading the cartridge @ 2.5K each leg of the XLR and I popped out the 220pF caps so it's only the cable capacitance in the circuit, It's been a while so I can't fully remember...
VPI JMW9 Sig. Arm Tube Ringing. Any remedies?
Lwerner, That would be a last resort but I won't discount it. Stringreen I added a little bit of oil a while ago to the pivot but I don't want to add any more. Storyboy, Thanks for the info. I will call VPI and get some input from them.
VPI JMW9 Sig. Arm Tube Ringing. Any remedies?
Stringreen, I will try that. Yes, I agree it is jaw droppingly wonderful. I originally had the weight VPI supplies between the cart and arm but the arm mass/compliance was mismatched and as a result, caused the cart to sound strident and congested...

Frequency/Channel imbalance. Help
Tvad, I don't know what's happening here. Maybe there are slight convex/concave issues with the record surfaces. Maybe on some of the used records one channel is more worn. Maybe some sort of weird electrical phenomena is happening to cause this. ...
Frequency/Channel imbalance. Help
Tvad, I took your advice. I don't have a mirror to check azimuth but I used a record I own that has no grooves on one side as my mirror. I did notice my cart was leaning to the side just slightly. Aside from using 2 volt-ohm meters to tweak the ch...
