Enjoying My New Focal Sopra No2's
Stevizzy,You are right (and I am wrong)---Sopra 2 doesn't have foam plugs (only Sopra 1 does).  From what you wrote there is no issue with flabbly/boomy bass response given your setup (3 ft from front wall). That's great to hear.  I will go back t...
Sopra 2 soundstage height
Nice thread-  I have a question on the Sopra 2's bass response.  I heard them for the first time at a dealer who placed them 3 ft or so from back wall.  Great soundstage, mid bass was fine, but the lower bass was boomy.  I noticed this on jazz (wi...
Focal Sopra 2 vs Sopra 3?
This is a great thread with a lot of good construction opinions!  I have a question on the Sopra 2:  I went to hear them at a dealer where they were set up 3+ feet from the front wall, driving by McIntosh electronics. I loved the soundstage, the s...
Vandersteen Treo CT vs Mag 3.7i speakers
Limniscate -I can place the Mag 3.7i about 4 ft from the front wall.
Enjoying My New Focal Sopra No2's
I recently heard the Sopra 2 at a New York dealer.  He had them 3 feet from the back wall and away from the side walls.  Were driven by McIntosh equipment.  I loved the soundstage, but the bass was boomy.  I've read the Focal includes a bass plug ...
Vandersteen Treo CT vs Mag 3.7i speakers
thanks for all your comments.
KEF LS50 - new model?
Let me add that I did speak to KEF directly and asked them the question.  They said they don't discuss any possible forthcoming updates/new models, etc before they are ready to be released.  I respect their approach, and I partly read in that some...
KEF LS50 and Rogue Cronus II integrated amp
Thanks timber77,Where I live there is no one dealer who has both.  I don't mind "punting" on buying the combo.  To round it out I'm planning on adding a Rega turntable (not sure which one yet) and a low priced cd player (for starters).
High quality CD recordings
Broadstone- My personal favorite Ralph Towner cd (originally on vinyl) is "Solstice". Jan Garbarek is on it. Very enjoyable (IMO).
NY Audio Show September 26th to September 28th
From what I've read so far, there aren't many major manufactures attending that appeal to me. I didn't see either Lyric or Innovative Audio (vendors) attending either. I don't want to go and mainly check out cables, headphones or 2nd/3rd tier manu...
Epos 10
I have compared the Epos against the Totem speakers you mention. I initially head the Epos els3 and one of the 2 Totem models. At first it's easy to prefer the Totem's highs compared to the Epos highs. Pop music, jazz, and the like sounded more at...
JVC XRCD 24 from Hong Kong
HI Zd542 - Thanks for your reply. My cd looks very real as well as the packaging. As I mentioned the sound is very good.
Sara K cd recommendations
Thanks everyone for your replies. I will check them out. The XRCD version of "Hell or High Water" is hard to find without paying a significant premium over list.
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne
I haven't hear the MMMicro's yet. I wish the company would set up a national dealer network so most folks could go to a local store and hear them. I am very reluctant to buy a pair without extensive listening (not at a show) and with a variety of ...
Epos Elan 10 speaker
Richard8655,I've done more listening. With classical music (orchestral, ensemble) I was easily able to discern the improvements the Elan 10 made over the M5i. The midrange is significantly cleaner, thus it's easy to heard individual group lines. M...
