Hard Bop, sans drum solos ?
Most Horace Silver albums would fit the description of hard bop, and while there may be some drum solos scattered here and there, I don't recall any that go on for any significant length of time, at least not long enough to make someone who claims...
Is there a quality website that lists upcoming releases of music
For information about re-releases of old music, I go to The Second Disc. It’s updated daily.https://theseconddisc.com
Song covers that are better than the originals
Glenn Campbell's cover of "Southern Nights" easily beats the original by Allen Toussaint.

Well in the case of Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way, On The Corner and Get Up With It (and maybe some others I'm missing) I think the recording quality can be explained by the dense sound that Miles was aiming for. There were tons of layered instrum...
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
I see where you're question comes from, but some of the ones you specifically mentioned I have a second opinion. I always thought Aura and Tutu were very good quality. Remastered versions of Aura and Tutu have been issued, and in both cases the re...
Thad Jones
Also which might be of interest: Thad Jones plays on certain cuts on the excellent “Ellington Is Forever, Vol. 1” by Kenny Burrell. Also, I recently picked up a Thad Jones tribute album entitled “Mad About Thad” by the NYJAZZ Initiative - excellen...
