Class D is just Dandy! If the "T" in your Class T stands for "Tripath" that is a Class D module, so your amp would be Class D. ARC and a few other manufacturers used this nomenclature for Tripath based amps.
New Bel Canto REF600M using NCORE hgeifmanI bought a pair of Bel Canto Ref 600Ms about five weeks ago, and so far I am very pleased. They are still breaking in, but I already find the sound very clean and clear with dead quiet background and nice, musical articulation of acoustic ...
Class D is just Dandy! Yes, George, Bel Canto Ref 600Ms are very good. I am right now listening to absolutely splendid sound of Mozart Symphony #40 with them driving Focal Alto Utopia Be speakers, sourced from Esoteric K-01 through an ARC LS 25 Mk II pre.I could not ...
The very best Sibelius recordings in analog My very favourite analogue Sibelius symphony recording is Symphony #2 by von Karajan conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra on EMI, recorded in 1960.Of course, if you were to ask about digital recordings, there are many to consider as well--includi...
Class D is just Dandy! Blang 11I think you are going to be very pleased with the Bel Canto Ref 600M monos. I just got my new pair installed a couple days ago, also replacing an ARC Class D stereo amp, model 150.2. The Bel Cantos already sound great, though I expect they...

Cheap Box Sets As we are onto classical music, I would note there are now many inexpensive but high quality classical CD box sets available, mostly from the "big three": Universal Music, Sony Music, and Warner Classics.A standout example would be Deutsche Grammo...
Your favorite Sheherazade LP ? I also think the Reiner RCA is terrific for both interpretation and sound quality. FWIW the last Penguin Guide I have says it "stands out" among many other superb recordings of this piece, and gave a Rosette to the RCA SACD version.
Class D = Trash? vdotman:I am glad to hear you are happy with Bel Canto Ref 600Ms, as I am looking into getting a pair myself. If you don't mind me asking, what source/DAC/pre are you using in front of the Bel Cantos that gives you the nice results?
Too Much Power? noble100Nice!
Too Much Power? Giudo: With Bel Canto Ref 600Ms ( or with Merrill Thors) I am looking at around $4,500-$5,000 stated price per pair. I did briefly consider Merrill Veritas; but at the stated price of $12,000 per pair, I really doubt Veritas would provide enoug...
Too Much Power? Guido: Thanks for the usefull tips on break-in and related issues. I have observed that you have a lot of knowledge about and experience with quality Class D.One further thing that occurs to me is if you have any thoughts in how the Bel Canto Ref ...

Too Much Power? Thank you to everyone who responded; the comments are really helpful and have allayed any concerns I might have had about the power issue. P.S. to Randy-11: If I do ever need to send them anywhere, you are at the top of the list :) |
