Technics Sp10 Mk2 vs SL-1200G - I finally did an A/B
I don't like using any Step-up or step-down transformers because they impose their own sound to the TT. It will be a coloration. I know some would say it is not a big deal but I am very particular on that front. And yes, I expect very meticulous ...
Technics Sp10 Mk2 vs SL-1200G - I finally did an A/B
@chakster you might have got lucky or something like that. I have been looking to buy a DD for the last 1.5 years. The main candidates were the Sp10 mk2 and Yamaha GT-2000. You can read my previous posts here, I have asked about these TTs many tim...
Technics Sp10 Mk2 vs SL-1200G - I finally did an A/B
@chakster the typical market price for a really nice sp10 Mk2 is $2500 and thereof. There are many examples of sp10 with many scratches, paint peeled off and letters worn out. They go for less than $2k. if you add a plinth and starter tonearm to t...
Technics Sp10 Mk2 vs SL-1200G - I finally did an A/B
@lewm, I haven’t heard the great Mk3 so I did not write about it. Steve Dobbins once told me that a real competitor of a fully done up Garrard is the Mk3, not the Mk2. My Garrard still doesn’t have a Dobbins platter which is a missing link. Anyway...
Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
I had a discussion with Anamighty guys on this and they clarified that they measure their RIAA from 1hz to 400khz. The deviation for that range is +-0.5db. But from 20hz to 20khz it is only 0.1db.
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
@audiofun, it only goes to show that making music is rather simple but at the same time is an art. Also goes to show how many and how often audiophile products miss the point..no matter the price.
Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
Francois is ready to send me a unit with 15 days return policy so that should settle the matter of how good it it. I will report here on the performance when I get it.
Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
@rauliruegas just curious where did you find the information on the RIAA deviation of 1db on the Le Phono ?
Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
@audiofun , I am going to have a chat with Francois today. If all goes well I will get the Le Phono. The other phonostage I am considering is the FM Acoustics 122 mk2. I can get it for about 60% more than the Le Phono but it is one of those phonos...
Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
@audiofun , do you have any idea about the Ana Mighty Le Phono phono stage ? I am considering it as an upgrade from the Trilogy 907.
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Frank, credit goes to you as well for setting it up well and matching with a synergistic phono stage to get the best out of this cartridge. It really needs a medium to light tonearm and a low noise full sounding, dynamic phono stage to shine throu...
opinions about leaving Audio Technia ART-9 MC for a Ortofon Cadenza bronze mc ?
i have an art9 and recently added a cadenza blue.  the blue sounds better, warm and smooth but more midrange clarity than the 9, also much more dynamic. i compare them regularily because i still have the 9. if the bronze is warmer than the blue i ...
Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
Any Naim phono stage would get you solid sound with great PRAT and rhythm. Naim is one of the very few brands who get the PRAT right without thinning out the body of the music. A Stageline with Hicap DR would be superb.
Tonearm rewiring
Get the tonearm wires from stereo-lux. Their finewire C37 cable is one of the best out there for tonearm wiring. The designer can supply you a direct continuous wire from the cartridge to phono or just a tonearm internal cable. Note that his cable...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
All said and done it is the only under $1k mainstream cartridge that sounds hi-rez and fulfils the criteria to be on a high end turntable. If one were to spend $3k and claim that ART-9 is not a solid contender I can understand, but within $2k (whi...
