what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
I ordered 12" x 16" x 1" for my speakers with a 8" x 13.5" footprint, with three 0.5" radiused brass footers. $534 + shipping. About 3 weeks for delivery for custom order. Paraphrasing my received responses to my questions:The grain structure of h...
what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
Well, I could not resist, I went ahead and ordered TerraStone platforms for my speakers. There was a good case for the TS over the maple and the TS was actually more cost effective and instead of raising my towers up 5.5", the TS platforms will on...
what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
Guido,Here are the maple platforms.Actually, the maple platforms themselves are reasonable, it is the brass feet that run up the price. For example, their 4" platforms with large brass feet are $505/pair. The retail of the brass feet separately are...
what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
Guido, well, the vendor says the gains in sonic performance of the 4" maple vastly outweighs any effects of the increased driver height. As a compromise, I could do 2" plinths but they recommend 4" for tile/concrete floors.as for trying out the pol...
what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
Yo Guido,I am not crazy about the idea of "plastic" platforms as wood has more of a romance to it. The advantage of the plastic is that I would only need a 1" plinth according to Eden whereas with the maple, 4" was recommended which wood really ma...
what is the theory behind maple stands and racks?
I had my lil' Paradigm Studio 20's on 2" thick maple with brass feet and tilted up and I can swear they sounded almost as good as my new floor standers sitting on the same tile floor with only brass footers. They were detailed and really smooth an...
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
The original power cords, to best of my memory, were nothing special, just the same mass produced 18 awg stuff that Dell would give you with your new desktop computer. no special design or science.
Bookshelf or Tower
OP reporting back to say I ended up getting the Paradigm Signature S6's. The deciding factor was seeing the limit of the particular monitor I was interested in, the Paradigm Signature S2.In a certain song, a pop rock mellow acoustical, with violin...
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
Just received my Pangea 9SE cable and whoa, this thing is big. After reading up, I am going to be unplugging the amp from the Furman and go straight to the wall. Will sound test it soon.
Pre-amps with seperate power supplies .....
Overall in this hobby, I think prices skew our judgment and ears, not to say expensive stuff does not sound better but the Yellow Eagle plug example by Gbart says it perfectly. As to the OP question, that umbilical of the CP 700 looks a lot nicer t...
Best monitor for under $4000.00
Paradigm Signature S2I thought they were very revealing with their Be tweet.with the right platforms and footers, they are really nice for acoustic and live type music. And the build quality is excellent.
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
I also have a 1U Furman Elite 15 I bought back in 2004 which all these pc's are plugged into.My Bryston owner's manual says to plug the amp directly into the wall that one of these power filter/conditioners will not improve the sound?
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
Thanks Jea48 for the link. That info helps make some sense why the last few feet of current are impactful.the current at my $5 Leviton may be "dirty" but once it enters the power cord, its a new ball game and at its most pivotal point of transmiss...
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
Ah, thanks for the tip on the AC9se...changed my order to 2m.I have been using after market cords for a while now, but the way I implemented them was not scientific. I was getting into hifi about 8 years ago when I put together my system, and righ...
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
"audiophile grade" = anything other than the cable that came with your Dell tower and costs more than 10 bucks, has really cool looking sheathing and nice shiny big connectors at each end, must have a really catchy name that plays on the fluid dyn...
