My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
@whitecamaross"ONE MORE THING: My opinions are based on ACTUAL HANDS ON EXPERIENCE in my own space." And therein lies the crux of the matter - excellent point WC. It'd be very nice if others would chime in with actual experience and leave out all ...
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like
@erik_squires "This beast consumes 150 W while idling!! I doubt its just the first 2W. :) "I’m pretty sure that is what I read in the literature back when I was considering the 509X. The 509X gets slightly warm but never even moderately warm. The ...
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like
@builder3I am basing my comments on user experience. If you have an inefficient speaker, this amp won't shine for you. What this translates to is a lack of finesse and snap & sparkle.
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like
I've heard a number of Luxman pieces.590AXII is 30W Class @ 8 ohms. Has the classic Class A sound with a nice midrange bloom. Just note it runs out of steam pretty quickly so a fairly efficient speaker is a must IMHO.I like the 507/509 sound bette...
Harbeth Super HL5 Plus speakers & integrated amp pairing recommendations
Luxman 509X - Heard that combo a number of times and can say it works very nicely - excellent pairing.Pass Labs would probably work well but would recommend the INT250. Less Class A power but much more authoritative.Good luck.

@guidocorona "There is really no right and no wrong in having or not having a linestage.... There are so many variables involved that it is not even funny.... Eventually, the only thing that matters is the preference of the individual user for the...

Sounds like it was a fun and educational get together.Interesting that though you really liked the Titans that after a full warm up of both amps you are back to the Blocks as your choice. And you found many others hearing the same too.@jafox  appr...
Do you ever do this before you listen?
Yep, most times at least once during listening; especially if I think things aren't right.Takes the ears out of the equation, at least for me.

Ref6 vs. Ref10 is no contest. And it is not supposed to be. Ref10 is bigger, better, more. It is not euphonic. I've heard both preamps many times and last heard the Ref10 two weekends ago.@whitecamaross Can't wait to read more about the new King i...

@mitch2 agreed on the "thicker skin". Workin' on that.@ricred1 I think you are getting at system synergy. If so, I'd agree it is THE key, IMHO of course.Hopefully 2019 will be less contentious here on the Gon'.
Curious what people think is the best "value" high end speaker (~5K to 15K)
Wilson Sabrina, as I mentioned before.Harbeth SHL5Plus. Very good, but not as good as the Sabrina. Kind of makes sense since the Sabrina is 2X.
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
I own the TAD Evolution system with the E1s, C2000 pre and M2500 stereo amp. Source is Aurender N10 going Nordost Heimdahl 2 AES to the pre. Everything is connected to three dedicated lines via older PS Audio power cords, amp to the wall and other...
