End game speakers for Yamaha as2100 under 5k new or used
Duevel Venus or one of the Ohm models (2000-3000), Omni's fill a room and these two brands have terrific reputations.
Seeking informed advice on speaker acquisition (Vandersteen vs. OHM Walsh)
I'd say this comes down to what type of listener you are. If you like to sit in the sweet spot and listen more critically the Vandy's would probably be my choice. The Ohm's on the other hand (I've owned 2 pairs) will fill a room with pleasing full...
Ownership and Review of a pair of Ohm Super Sound Cylinder
The omni sound is SOOO addicting that I will never go back to direct firing speakers. That said I've moved on from Ohm's as the WAF in our new modern condo was untenable. I purchased a pair of Duevel Planets about a year ago and they and the Ohm's...
Magnepan Owners
bdp24, thanks for the input (pun intended)!

Bypassing the fuses interests me, has anyone who has done this (including adding the Cardas binding posts) mod have video instructions that could walk someone thru this?  I'm electronically challenged at best and wouldn't want to do more harm than...
What Bookshelf / Stand Mounted Speakers To Pair With Vintage Electronics?
I have a Yamaha CR1020 receiver that I've paired up to good effect with some ADS L570/2 standmounts.  The combo produces a wonderful and clear sound with no fatigue whatsoever. The soft domes in ADS speakers seem to match well to the crisp clean s...
MG12 QR Maggies with Mye stands, or 1.7i's with stock stands?
First off, how big is your room?  Will it accommodate the bigger 1.7's? I'm partial to modding Maggie's myself and there are others who believe they're fine as they are.  I have MMG's in a 12' by 18' room and have done the following... Chucked the...
Vandie .7 vs Maggie .7
Tough call here, Vandy's are great all rounders that do a lot well and aren't typically fussy. Maggie's on the other hand are current hungry, need breathing room and (In my opinion) need some additional mod's to really hear what they are capable o...
Am I an Audiophile, a music lover-or both?
I once started a thread on another forum titled.."Are you a music lover or an equipment lover?"  My goodness the responses got heated, most falling into the category of "without the music your equipment is worthless" to "without the equipment you'...
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers
The Duevel Planets really are quite something, a simple and attractive way to fill a room with natural and near full range sound.  I think the best compliment I can give them is I don't really think about them or the system at all.  In fairness I ...
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers
My wife and I recently downsized our empty nest home to a new condo.  Our new digs are quite contemporary and the 30 year old Ohm Walsh 3's just didn't cut it looks wise.  So I decided I decided to pull the trigger on a pair of Duevel Planets in a...
Duevel's "Venus "Speaker or Shaninian's "Obelisk". Which offers the best sound quality?
I must've been the last person to deal with Pascal as he was traveling quite extensively and had mentioned he was getting ready to hang em' up.  I was a bit reluctant to purchase the Duevels through a Canadian distributor that I knew nothing about...
Duevel's "Venus "Speaker or Shaninian's "Obelisk". Which offers the best sound quality?
I run the entry level Duevel Planets in my Great room system and for what they are I can't complain, they look like a piece of art and fill a pretty good sized room with pleasing full range sound.  Duevels don't have much of a footprint here in th...
What are some of the downsides of owning a Magneplanar .7 or 1.7i ?
Most everything stated above is accurate so I won't repeat.  To me the most important aspect of owning Maggie's comes down to musical taste.  If you want to blast hard rock and such I'd look elsewhere, however, if your tastes run more towards Jazz...
MMGs
My choice would be 3): 1.7's   As good as the little MMG's are they only have so much to give.  Given your musical tastes the 1.7's would be sublime and you wouldn't need a sub to muddy things up.
