Retail?
If that were to happen I would simply by it new, or the seller takes a bigger hit if he wants to sell under those conditions (a lower current prioe for an item previously purchased - the risk you take as a buyer I suppose, though it does not happe...
Retail?
Bill, what you say is of course true in economic terms - value is determined by the parties, but I do not trust someone not providing full disclosure of material facts, and this pricing question I raise is material to me. Disclosethe facts and let...
The best speaker you ever heard?
I did not figure to read so much about Bose in a thread with this title. Might need to listen to them again, last time was, hmmmm, March 19th, 2:30 AM, 1979, or was it 1980?
Retail?
That's it, it might be caveat emptor and all that, but there is something deceitful to the practice of listing current retail, rather than the retail at time the units was made. And absolutely nothing wrong with saying that now it costs more if yo...
Retail?
Quite a divide. I notice this issue lately since the past 3-4 years have seen a significant increases in MSRP - there is something about profiting in that windfall that rubs me the wrong way, I guess there is no definitive right or wrong on the is...
Is good customer service about dead?
I imagine "value for dollar" high-end brands is the bulk of the equipment found in real brick & mortar stores with listening rooms, etc. I get the sense the esoteric stuff tends to be demoed in smaller, more private settings.
Retail?
I agree with both of you, and certainly legitimate to say that the current price is xyz in the description - always seems dishonest otherwise. Big issue with Manley gear at the moment after their recent price increases.
Joule - Electra: Just How Hot??
I'm not sure I have ever seen them used and positioned other than what Joneill has done - and shorter speaker wire to boot:)
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I think I could only deal with dual mono controls with steps and 1db increments in the 12:00 region. I like to balance, but dual controls would drive me nutz.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Nice gesture to the DIY crowd!
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Less is more when it is enough.
Preamp recomendation
No. I think that question was raised in the Lightspeed thread, and it sounds to me that it cannot be done with LDR approach. The Endler/EVS approach is one for of passive I have not tried, though several users on the LSA thread have.
Preamp recomendation
Though there groups of committed activists and pacifists, I will say that there are folks using passive that have made that choice coming from very expensive active line stages in the mid to high 4 figure range - for some, not active can beat a pa...
Music Reference RM9 - user comments please
"I sadly regret selling that amp." You don't know how many times I have heard former MR owners say that... fortunately it is still easy to get RM10s.
Cary 805, deHavilland or Atma-Sphere? Anyone cares
I agree, I think you must move up to the M60s to drive the VSMs properly. With the right speakers however the S30s are wonderful - Audiokinesis Jazz Modules perhaps!
