Naim UnitiQute - who's heard one?
Careful. If you end up with one of these you just may start thinking about replacing that "perfect" dac with a Naim NDX! Once you hear what Naim does with streaming and digital you will be hooked. Superb equipment, superb company.
Can a Rotel RA-1520 power B&W's 804s'
The new 805D's are stunning. The 1520 can drive them ok but it is not the optimum by a long shot.I really liked the 804S's but to my ears the new 805's are in another league. The proper partner for the RA-1520 would be the CM8's I think. If you wer...
New Rega DAC
It's out.
Best Amplification for B&W 802D
What on earth possesed you to purchase a pair of B&W 802's?Superb speaker but not really a great match with surround sound receivers. BUT, you should be getting a LOT better sound from them than your computer speakers.I'm going to guess that t...
Electrostat - M-L; Quad or Soundlab - reliable
Quad 2905.
B&W CM8 or 805?
Tough choice but I'd go for the CM8. It has the lastestmidrange and improved tweeter over the older Nautilus 805.Nice with the Primare gear too.
Anyone heard the new Audio Research Dac-8?
yep. it's gorgeous
Squeezebox hard to see?
Get the Touch over the Duet. I've installed a bunch of Squeezebox's and the Duet seems to be the most glitchy as Cruz123 already mentioned. Then use a iTouch from Apple and voila. a music server with the controller in your hand.Quite an amazing th...
Ayre vs Primare
Tough call. I like the Spendor line a LOT with Naim too. Just to muddy up the water a little ! *s*
Best Dac with USB input for $1,000 or less
Rega will have one out in the fall. I'll bet it will sound good.
I have the DAC w/ the USB port, now what?
Use free iTunes and $50 Rivers Media Player which lays over it and will play anything.
$4000 to Spend on Amp, Preamp and USB DAC
Hiface into a Naim Supernait. Later you can add a Hicap andthank me then. Seriously, I have heard this on many occasions into the likes of Sonus faber Cremona M's and the like and it is SUPERB.Oops. Saw you already pulled the trigger!
Used MMG's
They will sing with so many different things in so many different areas of a room that make them a no btainer purchase new at their $599 cost. Contrary to many posters on the web I find them to sound good almost wherever you place them and can't u...
Audiophile Addiction
Interesting article by Robert Harley in this months AbsoluteSound that parallels the first posters experiences. Not quite to the same extent but certainly along the same lines and focusing on the having ones system accessible to have everyone list...
Magnepan 1.7 or used Totem Forest
To Hifiharv: Yep, Maggies can sound downright amazing with less power than people think. And tubes? Yes. But....the newer Maggies are actually EASIER than the old ones to drive and make sound great in a real room. You don't need to measure every i...
