The Best Inexpensive Wines Available Now
The Kendall-Jackson label has never failed me in its consistency. A "supermarket" wine to be sure, but still has enough oak, fruit and finish to satisfy. I also like Clos du Bois.
Classic rock album covers
You can't beat the Crimson King. A face some of us wear when we happen upon MTV. Another fav is "the Love Songs of A. Wilbur Meshel". A photo of a sad young man, eating a sandwich on a park bench, while a "Park Avenue" couple enjoys life in the ba...
Good DVD Concert?
James has an excellent farewell concert DVD. Picture quality is ok , but the sound and songs are great. The only band I can compare them to is Coldplay, but more upbeat. Available as an import only, the Canadian version is Region One.
What do You listen to?
Count me in as a lover of Goth. Hey Richingoth, the more I read your answers, the more I think we're joined at the head(s). Lets see; from N.J., living in South Brevard, 50 yrs. old and enjoy the darker side of music. I'll bet you even frequented ...
Do You Remember Your First Music Purchase?
I bought the Kinks "Kink-Size" waay back in early '65. Had to buy the mono version because I couldn't afford the extra dollar for a stereo copy. My pitiful, portable, picnic player would not have done justice to it anyway. Ah, the life of a unemplo...

Placement of Salons to maximize soundstaging
When my Salons "disappear", its largely due to the recording. I have them 7ft into the room and 4ft from the side walls in a 20x30ft room. Like you, I listen in the nearfield, with the inside panels just visible from the "sweet spot". The soundsta...
Every make a purchase you truly regret?
Wilson Witts. An impulse buy that I hope I'll never do again. Replaced my Straightwire Maestros with Purist Audio Colossus to take the edge off the ear slicing highs. The "one note bass" problem remained no matter where I positioned them (even aft...
How many AudiogoNers are amateur chefs?
I've been in the restaurant business all my life. Family owned and operated. A mostly seafood cuisine establishment, with myself being "on the line" for thirty years. But while I enjoy compliments on the food; I get a bang when the customers make ...
Best drink while listening to your rig?
rain water and pure grain alcohol.
what are your favorite movie soundtracks.
You can't go wrong with Slipknot's list, especially the glorious Vangelis "Blade Runner". Almost all of Vangelis' film work is recommended. As is John Barry's James Bond series. The list of great film composers is immence, but the best way to get ...
The Biggest Disappointments in Rock and Roll
Hi-way, I'm not stuck in the sixties, but I am very picky about rock music in general. I sometimes wonder if I like rock at all because I don't like so much of it. Van Halen, Bad Company, the boss, Korn and Limp Bisquik...hundreds more. The "class...
