Putting Brilliant Pebbles in the microwave, the next HOT tweak!
I Would LOVE to see.
Syd Barrett, although it was a different kind of loss.
New Rega Planer 8 (P8) Turntable - Apheta 2 Cartridge Combo - Thoughts
@fsmithjack Hey Frank,It's good to see all your positive energy! I recall the same from some of your threads when you were working on your digital setup.@bdp24 makes some great points, before investing more, just be sure you are truly excited abou...
Higher Efficiency Speakers
With that small of a space you might want to make sure whatever you get will work well close to the wall behind. That eliminates anything that fires or ports to the rear. So no dipoles or rear ported. Larsen supposedly makes a speaker or two inten...
Owens Corning 703 vs. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound?
@bdp24 Hey Eric, It's been almost two years since this conversation! How did your room treatment decisions and implementation turn out. Inquiring minds want to know! Cheers,Spencer
Nottingham Spacedeck vs Rega Planar 8 vs Technics SL1200G
@stereo5 If you are open to global vendors, here's a link to a guy in Vietnam(Tran Van Tan - TVT Analog Shop) who makes very high quality machined parts for many high end turntables. He does everything from copper and ss mats to arm pods etc. His ...
VPI Classic 3 or SME 20/2
@davelarz, before making a radical change to the arm, I'd suggest trying to play with your setup in the room and room treatment. Many in squarish rooms have reported improvements by going to placement of the speakers across a corner at 45 degrees....
What is the most dramatic way of increasing a speaker's Bass and Low mid?
BTW, if doing testing be wary of relying on the mic built into your phone, as they are focused on picking up midrange and won't pick up low frequency with any accuracy. Any simple test tone cd and a decent mic will have you on your way to measure ...
Rogue audio amp thoughts
Mark and the Rogue team are really high integrity dudes in it for all the right reasons. They will give you advice like a friend and offer good value. Cheers,Spencer
Turntables
@luvrockin , Your new cartridge is certainly going to new some break-in time, probably about 50 hours before it's at its best. After 10-20 hours it should start to improve. Remember it's got a moving suspension and needs to loosen up. So don't pan...
Turntables
@sns Start a thread about your new setup when you get it. I had great success w/ SP10mkII. One concern, is the compliance match a good fit between the 103R and the Jelco? I've heard widely varying results for the cart depending on the arm. One sug...
Recommendation for DAC needed.
@jburidan Ever compare the Hugo or DirectStream to the Gumby multibit or the Yggy? I did a side-by-side of Hugo vs. Gumby in my system and decided to buy the Gumby. I have a friend who owns both the PS and the Yggy; he prefers and uses the Yggy th...
Nottingham Spacedeck vs Rega Planar 8 vs Technics SL1200G
If you ever needed parts is Nottingham in business with their owner/ designer now passed? When I owned a Spacedeck I had trouble with the very fine tonearm wiring on the Spacearm. Most of the local dealers were afraid to touch it to rewire, even O...
Music Rendering & Management Programs - Your Opinions Please
I tried them all & like Audirvana+ the best soundwise. Jriver has nicest interface/experience. However, I  can't say my Audirvana experience was a great one. Plenty of bugs with library files ( some of which are "hidden files" on Mac. Drama, s...
