BEST brand for Classical Recordings?
Hi, in my opinion Teldec and Telarc CD recordings, and all the mercury Living Presence CD recordings, sound super BRIGHT to the point of pain. The Sony CDs sound wonderful, whether you get super bit mapping versions or not.SC
Ensemble power porducts: a surprise no.2
Hmm, this guy Steve likes to lurk near the forums and blast anyone who buys power cords and other power conditioning products! I don't know why he gets a kick out of his own penmanship, but to each his own I guess. Anyway, Ensemble man, I have bee...
Impulsive audio purchase
Hi Sean, no I'm not single, but if I had hooked up with another audiophile not only would our house not have enough rooms, we would also run out of money FAST. Right now, I am down to two excellent systems, one on each floor of my townhouse (why t...
Impulsive audio purchase
I meant to reply to Noonen, not Snooker. Sorry!
Impulsive audio purchase
Snooker, I can't believe you're worried when all you bought were a couple of LPs you can't listen to. I've bought: cables, preamps, stands, and even amps that I don't need at all, but have been curious about and saw on Audiogon at great prices. I ...
What are B W 802 Series 3 s worth?
Brent, Sound Anchor carries or will make stands custom-sized for various speakers, amps, and other components. If you call them and tell them you have 802's, they can give you a price. When I bought them for my 801's, they cost me about $400, but ...
ESS speakers "Translinear" Transstatic
Hi, I owned a pair of ESS AMT 1A's in 1975 through about 1980. I gave them to my sister and she still has them and loves them. The woofer surrounds disintegrated about 12 years ago, but the dealer (a local TV store) ordered new ones for me and as ...
What are B W 802 Series 3 s worth?
Brent, buy some Sound Anchor stands for these speakers. They definitely need stands and I found these to be the best for the B&W matrix series.
Phono stage--please help
thanks, everyone, for all your thoughts and ideas. These discussion groups are really useful, since I don't anyone but dealers to discuss such issues with, and their vision is limited to what they sell.
Phono stage--please help
Phild, thanks for your response. As for preamps w/built in phono stages, what do you think of the Ayre K-3? It appears to be adjustable and has a good reputation, but I have never heard it. Thanks.
Phono stage--please help
Thank you, Rec, I have a follow-up question for you: would you recommend the EAR with or without the volume control? I have read that running it straight to your amp and bypassing your preamp will sound much better; true, in your opinion? thanks, s.
Recommended speakers for Goldmund SRA
My dealer demos this Goldmund amp with Thiels of various sizes and shapes and the sound is always spectacular. You could phone him for additional advise: Tom Unger, Gifted Listener Audio, Centreville, VA 703-818-8000 (store closed Sundays and Mond...
