What do you LIKE BEST about your current audio system?
The music - it always was and always will be entirely about THE MUSIC!
The current best band in the world?
Agree 100%. Mike Campbell has so much taste and skill. Mike’s heroes are my heroes too. I would have picked TPHB not long ago as the best band but sadly we lost Tom.I would propose Red Hot Chili Peppers as one of the current best bands in the worl...
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
I have watched my fair share of TV in my life and now I fully embrace this song! Get out there and do it and live life yourself and not through others...get out of the stands passively wasting your life away and get out there on stage and really l...
The 70’s are back
You can always get better value used - so I don’t think the comparison is fair. A fair comparison would be other brand new speakers with professional quality drivers. Large ATC, PMC, Westlake, Tannoy etc. are going to set you back even more - so t...
Cannot find perfect sound
You likely have a hearing problem. There is no way cheap ear buds sound good. I have Shure IEM that cost $1500 and they sound fantastic for IEM but they can’t begin to compete with speakers because the sound is all in my head and it just sounds ar...
Looking for speaker recommendations
Have not heard the PS Audio Stellar Gain DAC.The Benchmark DAC 3 is very detailed without sounding digital - no harshness or digital glare at all I think you you can try it and return it if you dont like that level of detail/precision.That said, c...
The 70’s are back
@d2girls Lol. Try Sheffield labs drum track on your speaker tests. Very few speakers can do that one justice at around 110 dB SPL continuous and they all have 12” or bigger or multiple 12 or 15 inch woofers...My 15” woofer barely moves but you can...
ATI AT4003 / ATI AT543NC for ATC SCM / Dyndaudio
200 Watts is good with ATC. I am not familiar with ATI. The 4003 is more of a traditional audiophile design. Class D amplifiers are not yet mainstream for audiophiles but they can be brilliant. You have to consider that Class D, even if done to p...
20 foot long speaker cable: is it ok?
No big deal. Save your money for real improvements with your components and get some ordinary speaker wire. If you want to go crazy then get 12 gauge wire. The only thing you should avoid is 18 gauge lamp cord or thinner wire. Stranded cables are ...
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
@fleschler pulp and paper cones are outstanding - beautifully damped, stiff and light weight. They must not be driven in to breakup - so the operating bandwidth is less than more rigid cones. Provided the designer operates the cone within its idea...
DAC OR NO DAC???
The C2600 has an ESS 9018 chip (about five years old technology). It is very good for a DAC built in to a pre-amp. The latest standalone DACs would be only slightly better.
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
@sciencecop  I agree with you about cone design. The ideal cone is perfectly rigid and perfectly and completely damped.
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
Yes aluminium and ceramic are nearly perfectly rigid and pistonic but they Rrriiiiinnnnnnggggg like a bell and are terrible materials for driver cones. The Rrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg is what I...
The 70’s are back
Finally progress! Back to the great era of the three-way!!!
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
The radial cone in Harbeth speakers is quite rigid or pistonic.Richard should not use a 4.5 inch cone at 5 KHz - it will beam severely. But the idea of pistonic is good provided the material is intrinsically damped. Watch the two videos on this pa...
