HAVE ALL SALES STOPPED ON AUDIOGON ???
I've seen a lot of wishful thinking in listings, not just here but everywhere. I follow one high end manufacturer's products and it never ceases to amaze me how some owners will ship it back to the manufacturer, spend a small fortune on getting th...
Oppo Ceasing production
Keep in mind that the Oppo cellphone brand, and Oppo Digital, are two separate entries under the same BBK Electronics corporate umbrella. OnePlus and Vivo are two other entities they own. So in a direct sense, Oppo Digital ≠ Oppo.Kind of sad I can...
“MQA is a philosophy”..John Stuart
@brianlucey The only thing "authenticated" is the addition to Stuart's bank account.  Out of which he possibly pays Stereophile and Abso!ute Sound to keep gaslighting their readers relentlessly so they actually start to believe this lossy mqa CODE...
Naim and Elac Adante, Wow
@fsonicsmith writes:" Audiotroy, I hate to break this to you, but your constant touting of Legacy and your slow but ramped-up cheerleading of Elac is growing tiresome. You are shilling the lines you sell, plain and simple."Agreed. I've reported t...
MQA•Foolish New Algorithm? Vote!
I've heard it on an mqa-equipped DAC in my system and compared it, and it's kind of obvious how I feel about it (given my avatar).  Is it different?  Yes. Is it better? Well...it's different.  I think what really p#sses a lot of us high-end consum...
Detroit metro area, Michigan
@dbarnabo @gearheadmac You might try:http://www.michiganaudioclub.com/Default.aspxI don't know if this is the fledgling club from the original post (it very well could be, given the date), but the Southeast Michigan Audio Club has been going stron...
My Home Speakers, My Car, and Me...The Ballad of What's Going Wrong?
Keep in mind that "room correction" software only fixes one single point in your room.  Move a few inches, and the sound is now *more* out of whack there, and all other places in the room for that matter.  It does nothing to cure any standing wave...
How Is MQA Fareing?
Meh. I agree. If I own lossless hi-res, I have zero need for MQA. I have Tidal but find I rarely use it. Comparing a hi-res track to its MQA equivalent (like the Warner releases) is something to check out, since most likely the mastering is the sa...
AXPONA 2017 Protocol
Room setup is variable at the show.  I noticed that some took time to use some room treatments and set things up properly.  Others just looked as though they were dropped in place with a rudimentary attempt at proper speaker placement.  Let's face...
The value of of the sealed record.
Sealed is the only way to ensure that a record is in good condition. I have bought SO many records from 'reliable' sources, which look mint, but only play VG.That is my experience also. At least half the used vinyl I buy lately is not satisfactory...
Nak PA 5MMKII Bellles 150A HR Rotel RB 1070? Which one
I briefly had the RB1070 in my system and could not wait to get rid of it.  I dislike that sterile, lifeless sound.  It had no "balls" whatsoever.  I went a week or two without turning on my system.  Hated it.  I used it to temporarily replace ano...
Insane ground loop; anybody wanna try?
@jmcgrogan2 wrote:Disconnect any CATV hookup regardless, you may be surprised.I fought a ground loop hum for a month or so, and ignored the CATV line because it was on a different circuit. Turned out to be the culprit anyway.Ground loops find a wa...
Vandersteen
I have to agree with what @tomic601 says, and follow setup exactly. Vandersteen gives very specific instructions on setup, and the stands are a necessity--they add that last bit of focus to the sound. But I will say this--I have some 2CEs here and ...
Wilson Audio Haters
We don't have to "hate" a brand just because we don't like the sound of their products. I have heard B&Ws for decades and they have never warmed to me.  Likewise, I heard the Wilson Alexx recently and again, it just didn't do it for me.  No ha...
The new OPPO Digital UDP-203 question
I use a Chromecast in the rear HDMI input of my BDP-105, primarily for streaming Pandora, Tidal and TuneIn Radio as background music.  That way, I can "cast" from a phone or tablet and not have to turn a TV on to control the player.  By pressing t...
