Best Cartridge for $1000-$1350?
jbhiller361 posts09-14-2018 12:09amI love my ART9.  I like it more than my previous Dynavector that was pricer. If your preamp can handle it then it may be a fit. I use a Manley Chinook pre.  The cart is superb at most any price.  Soundstage, imag...
The Devil is in the Cartridge Setup (and a good phone pre)...
I see this happening more and more often in this forum.  It's getting more and more petty, and the personal attacks are getting out of hand.  OP came in to share his experience, which I found interesting.  I'd like to hear more about the changes d...
Warm HDMI cable?
I can read, oh Lord of Audiogon. I didn’t say I don’t believe. I said I don’t understand how it could affect sound. Apparently it’s you who can’t read. So unless you are contributing to my understanding or helping the OP then you too can pass on. ...
Warm HDMI cable?
Thank you Mr Friendly.  No desire to engage with you any further.
Warm HDMI cable?
How could an HDMI cable affect the sound by being "warmer" or more analytical?  It passes digital information... 1s and 0s.  How could it "edit" or change the 1s and 0s to change the tone?  I could see it being more accurate in the sense it doesn'...
Phono cable advice.
I will simply quote a trusted expert for an example, Chakster.atmasphere6,625 posts10-16-2018 3:08pmA further advantage is that unshielded cables have lower capacitance per foot, which is really helpful when dealing with the resonance that develop...

@invictus005 Thank you for pointing out my lack of intelligence... as well as that of Atmasphere.   And further, thanks for citing all that wonderful expertise you have, facts to back up your opinion and your personal experience that backs up your...
Line Magnetic quality
I have a Primaluna.  It was made in China, and the build quality is excellent.  No reason the Line Magnetic can't also be an excellent piece!

@chakster, thanks for the sage advice!  Going forward, I will avoid touching or holding my cables while listening to music.FWIW, to answer your condescending question, I use LOMC.  An Audio Technica ART9, to be exact.  Not exactly junk.  Neither i...
Beware of new material claims - the case of graphene
@folkfreak I'm totally with you!  I was being sarcastic.  I don't think that we should assume everything is bunk... but I am a complete skeptic on most things "tweaky".  Any outrageous claim could be bunk or could be reality.  However, what about ...
Beware of new material claims - the case of graphene
Is the OP suggesting that there could be people or companies involved in audio who sell something to people claiming it's one thing, while in actuality it isn't?  Do you really think that someone could make false claims about something in audio?No...

chakster1,919 posts10-16-2018 3:53pmPhono cable must be shielded, good cables have low capacitance anyway, so we don't have to worry about it. With unshielded cables anyone can listen to a radio in the speakers, it's a free bonus of unshielded cab...
Impressed with SVS Ultra
I would call SVS directly.  They were extremely helpful for me.  I talked to them several times, each time a different person.  But all were super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.  Once, I even got Ed, who I saw in a few of their online videos...

sorry to chime in here, but invictus, I don't think you can make a blanket statement like this.  I am using Steger Silver Solids on my TT.  They are unshielded, and I have no problems whatsoever with noise.  My rig is dead quiet. One should never s...
