need some help with Denon DL-103r OR Suggest a different cartridge
On 2nd thought.....I see the lowest gain setting on your phono stage is 54db. If you use an active line stage, you’ll likely have too much gain with the healthy 4.0mV output of the Music Maker mk3 cartridge.A passive or very low gain (less than 5d...
need some help with Denon DL-103r OR Suggest a different cartridge
As others have said, the 103R will NEVER work on your Green dot UP4 arm. Your arm is super light and requires a VERY light and compliant cart. The 103R is the polar opposite -- heavy and stiff and needs a very heavy arm. I’m 100% sure of this as I...

Rega and its variants use 222mm as mount distance. This includes Origin Live, Audiomods, and Michell Tecnoarm. Jelco 250 and 750 series have different mount distance. I don’t know about the new Jelco models that were introduced recently. From direc...

lohanimal264 posts Of the current carts everyone seems to be going on about the Ortofon, yet nobody mentions either the new Garrott carts nor the Cartridgeman Music Maker. Not true. Back on Oct 27 I made two posts in this thread singing the prai...
Music Maker II cartridge
PS: I also own the Hadcock 242 unipivot arm. Despite all accounts saying it’s a hugely synergistic match, and both the arm and cart being developed by Len Gregory, I much prefer the MusicMaker3 in my fixed bearing medium mass arms. As do all my fr...

@dhcod I’m surprised the "highish" compliance 2M Black is working so well in your "heavyish" tonearm. If my math is correct the RF is in the danger zone at 7Hz.I’m also surprised at all the recs here touting high compliant carts that are much bett...
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
I’ve read good things about Andy’s work. Thanks for the reminder.Ever use Peter Ledermann at Soundsmith in Peekskill NY?  I wonder how they compare.
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
Agreed.  I have used Soundsmith in the past.  They do excellent work at reasonable prices.
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
I did that Mark......don't see anything untoward.Just raised rear of arm a bit. Arm tube still looks parallel on the index card,  and clearance under cart now looks a bit better. At least the gap is even, front vs rear of cart body. Thanks for the...
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
I've unscrewed and  rescrewed (is that a word?  ha-ha!) the headshell a few times and it is seated properly.
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
Thanks guys, it does look that way to me also. Yet using the lined index card technique, the armtube looks completely parallel to platter (see photo). I guess this means the headshell is not completely flat, or somehow tilted down to the rear.I’ll...

Music Maker II cartridge
I dunno about the guys having trouble with this cart in their OL arms, but I am getting spectacular results with my Music Maker MkIII in both arms I tried: Rega RB300 (rewired by BritAudio) and an OL Encounter Mk3C. It tracks like a champ and soun...
