HELP Turning off the Left Brain
Sounds to me that the core problem is too much discretionary income, and in that vein, I am prepared to selfishly offer my services. Contact me via email for the requisite account number, and simply transfer all supplemental monies. The next time ...
A plea for help from my Hales T-8's
Hi Mitchb - hope all is well with ya. Just to reiterate a couple of your points. The tape method is quite effective on a simple dent. I gently adhered the tape to the dent using the eraser end of a pencil, grabbed both ends of the section of tape,...
Who makes all the transports?
I believe Audiomeca is one of the few companies that designs/manufactures their own mechanism. This apparently was an outgrowth of designer Pierre Lurne work with turntables. My question is - are his turntables highly regarded? I haven't seen much...
Clayton Amp owners - do you have a hum?
Thank you for your replies, gentlemen - I appreciate the input:Ehoehn - Interesting! I can't help but wonder if the hum is an idiosyncracy of the Clayton design, perhaps in their earlier renditions such as mine. Hopefully some other Clayton owners...

Hi Kirk - good deal - sounds like you're on your way! Best of luck with the new home, and of course, the listening room. Now, if I could just get this hum to go away (heheh) ... Tom

Hello Kirk - I concur w/ Jim - I simply wouldn't accept any subflooring (plywood) less than 3/4", and I would further stipulate 1/4" (preferrably 3/8") underlayment before laying carpet. I will simply state - a finished floor thickness of only 5/8...

Hi Audiofankj - in response to your question concerning the floor, IMO it would be most beneficial to double the floor joists, especially considering the fact that you use an analog source in your system. Without looking at the framing blueprints ...
Help / Comments - New Construction - Sort of...
Being on the second floor, I would give some special consideration to the rigidity of the floor system. This can be greatly enhanced by doubling up all the floor joists under this room - we're talking an extra few hundred bucks for lumber. In addi...
Which Audiologic dac was the first to go 24 bit?
Powder - using a Jena Labs Valkyrie digital XLR between a Mephisto II transport and my M34 dac. I just kinda dove off into the deep end, so sorry to say can't really offer any comparisons. Other than to say all my CD's are quite listenable :-)
Need some juice --- High power amps
Oops - guess there's not much involved to creating a link - didn't even know I was doing it - heheh. Now, where'd I put that drink...
Need some juice --- High power amps
Hi Crozbo - allow me to submit this discussion on the Clayton Audio line of amps for your perusal:http://www.iar-80.com/page6.htmlI think most Clayton owners would support this summary of their amps. And, this publication's issue also compares the ...
Which Audiologic dac was the first to go 24 bit?
Hey - thanks to all you guys who've responded about tubes here. I will never ceased to be amazed at the level of knowledge you fellas possess for this hobby. Talk about feeling like a ditch-digger at an Aeronautical Engineering Society luncheon - ...
Which Audiologic dac was the first to go 24 bit?
Hi Jeffcott - thanks so much for your detailed discussion. As I don't consider myself a "paying" customer, I didn't feel it right to infringe upon Mr. Ozment's time concerning tube selection. It's apparent that you gentlemen have spent quite some ...
Which Audiologic dac was the first to go 24 bit?
Rx8man - Hello - your comment about "special tubes" caught my attention, as I have been wanting to try another set in my M34 dsm, purchased here used a couple years ago. We will be moving shortly; so, while the system is taken down, I thought it w...
