The Science of Cables
"A single photon is detectable but it conveys no information. " Does anyone here know what the word contradiction means? I see it went down to name calling fairly fast. As in, your post is all about dismissal -poorly framed and delivered at that. ...
The Science of Cables
The eye is capable of discerning a single photon of light. This is a known thing. This just in about the ear: The ear is capable of detecting sound where the motion of the cilia in the ear is.... >>less than the width of an atom.<< ht...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
I’m not sure the GCII is burned in yet..and, importantly... do not burn it in with any form of burn in hardware. Do. not. It takes a good 100 hrs to burn in. Burn it in via listening at line levels. We do indeed have regular GC Ultra RCA cables, y...
Speaker Cable Malarkey (“Ghost” Cables)
Plot twist: Does this 20 gauge wire that is only connected at the amp need a break-in period? Now that's a great question.
Spam threads gone wild...
It would probably require a massive update of the forum period. Basically a new system of having a forum, new format, the whole works. In that new but now 'normal' forum format, the software would have the ability to combat such heavy spamming. T...
Speaker Cable Malarkey (“Ghost” Cables)
It’s called complex impedance interactions of parallel runs and... well.... interactions from the additional mass. A bit of lenz law, a bit of this ...a bit of that...capacitance here, a bit of capacitance there... Even the skin pigment in a cable...
Are many audiophiles only seeking approval of the next purchase?
Well, we have to at least visit and hang out with insane, otherwise we’ll never know the difference. Knew an old professor who kept his sanity card in his wallet. He was discharged from the psyche ward many decades back, after a short visit. He wa...
Silver plated copper
The distortion in an ac waveform as propagated through or via a ’transmission line’, will occur in the DC to AC & AC to DC changes in that given signal. the bulk skin effect consideration, the real actual skin effect, is not the transmission l...
Are many audiophiles only seeking approval of the next purchase?
Now that there are no brick and mortar stores to go into and sit down and hear the gear..well..this is all that people have. This on line commiseration thing. Which is also ripe for promotion/inducement of gang/thug behavior. Part of it is due to...
Only you expensive cable owners, is this real?
Laugh out loud.....Thanks Geoff....
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
the point is that the older R2R dacs have less issues and less fundamental flaws than modern delta sigma dacs. You seem to have taken the statement and meaning, and put it on backwards..... Up sampling was marketing spin It might work and it does ...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
the return to R2R dacs, with modern thinking, has shown just how good 16/44 can sound. It does have it's limitations, though. It's when those revised thinking R2R dacs are used with the higher data rates, that's when it really takes off toward good...
GaN-based Class D power amps
I can slam you, Ralph, if you are feeling hard done by.. jk..and then you can slam me.... and then everyone on some strange planet somewhere will be happy.
CD Got Absolutely Crushed By Vinyl
interesting that people like bob Ludwig said he received masters mostly on tape, to the tune of 85%, approximately. Digital can be good, I make no case for either. Just that.... no, it does not come in as digital and is then pressed into vynil. Ye...
So many new TT's at lower price, still better off buying used?
turntables take time to learn, and being extremely mechanical, and electrical/motor components are involved...this almost triples the level of lore required to make a truly functional one. Lots of dilettante mediocre stuff out there, is what it co...
