We Need A Separate Forum for Fuses
So does an 18 gauge cable sound better than a 10 gauge cable? Does any fuse sound as good as no fuse? If no fuse truly sounds better, why can't fuses sound differently? I've never had the heart to purchase any crazy expensive fuses, but I have twi...
Two Type of sound and listener preference are there more?
Interesting conversation.... I think about being in a church service several years back, our pianist was excellent, really enjoyed listening to this guy play,  he was a professional and played with several theater groups around town.  Soon we had ...
Use a car woofer for home audio cabinet.. any downside?
Hi Steve,    The 2 on ebay are a bit high.... Yes, Madisound had this knocked off for them. I believe Foster made it.  Neither of these is the Madisound part.  I don't recognize the part with the fins on the magnet,  but the other looks to be the ...
What do you know about the JENSZEN Z-600 speakers and cross-overs
I don't have a ton of experience with these, Its been many years These speakers require some real current to come alive.  They are a difficult load and not many tubes will run them.  Not sure this helps, but it is what I recall. Tim

acoustical stuffing / sound dampening subwoofer cabinet REL BRITANNIA B1 subwoofer
My experience with any type of stuffing on a ported or vented box is closer to Dukes.  It isn't always about the slight changes in effective cabinet volume as much as it is the dampening effect and the amount of output or cancellation because of w...
Does anyone know what happened to SUMO Electronics?
JD,   one of my best friends still uses an Electra.  He has made a ton of cap improvements on this pre and it responded incredibly to the changes.  This pre already uses 1% metal film resistors, but it is full of sub par caps. so if you figure out...
Use a car woofer for home audio cabinet.. any downside?
I went ahead and ran curves on the 2 woofers suggested.... The AD12-300 woofer Erik posted is an attractive choice indeed.  As a drop in without any changes,  It'll be fairly smooth and be 3db down @ 31hz.  The NHT1259 Woofer posted as a drop in (...

Does anyone know what happened to SUMO Electronics?
JD, am I understanding that you are after an Electra Schematic? I'm not sure, but I may have one.  Please confirm before I go crazy looking.
Does anyone know what happened to SUMO Electronics?
Yep,  Jim Made Charlie the Tuner under Gas and Sumo Labels both.  The Sumo was a better sounding piece, the best sounding tuner that I have heard, but its reception was mediocre at best.
Use a car woofer for home audio cabinet.. any downside?
@stevethe4th The short answer to your question is "yes"  it is certainly possible to use a car woofer in a home system. The problem that you run into is that the automotive environment requires a much different woofer than a living room and are de...
Speakers least affected by room acoustics
The advice that most mirrors my experience comes from audiotroy.   If someone come to me asking me to build a speaker for them and they had a lot of boundry room issues.  I would have recommended one of two.  One was nailed above.  An MTM with a r...
Does anyone know what happened to SUMO Electronics?
@marqmike Yep,  Rich Did Polaris and Jason did Polaris II and III.  I've listened to the Polaris many times,  I sold that piece, It had a slight coloration that was pleasant.  I've not sat in front of the Jason's Polaris models. I've been told tha...

@roberjerman Jim's Sumo Preamp was the Electra... Rich May did some tweaking and the called it the Electra Plus, Rich May then did the Athena.  Jason Stoddard tweaked the Athena and that was the Athena II. James did the Andromeda... bipolar output...
