OP you might also consider the field coil Classic Audio horns as well as more conventional horns they make Ralph from Atmasphere holds them in high esteem.I have heard them account themselves quite well. Not my cup of tea but I can see and hear wh...

you should consider the new in Fall Vandersteen- Qat your budget you could also get the M5 solid state high pass amp11 bands of analog room taming EQ and 600 wpc class B sub amps...i am pretty biased as i have 2-3 pairs of Vandersteen at any given...

there were more choices than just Klipsch back in the day..many many McIntosh dealers also carried Bozakthe vaunted Concert Grand with a Mc275 could be magical in the room and next door....I know of this first hand circa 1965 with a Mc240 and B-30...

BTW, i worked at a Sansui / Shahinian dealer late 70’s...yes we has other more high end gear....but the Shahinians may shock you for enjoyment.....especially w multitrack recordings of the day.....mixed with high eq, heavy hand on pan and a mostly...

because of your Quad aspirations, i will veer from my very typical Vandersteen recommendation ( for great stereo, get 2C and up !!!! )but i will suggest some work for you.....try to find Shahinian Obelisk....buy a pair to start and add 2nd pair fo...

speaking of music, just enjoyed 8:17 of Loggins/Messina - Same Old Wine at 39 volume on the ARC into the 1.2 KW a side 7’s w Vandersteen amps......holy cow......big fun.....also, so much for KEF dealer expertise......building a big speaker taller ...
